I am begining to use a 50/1.4, and find it´s contrast wide open fantastic, although not much detail, contrast makes it nice, what can I spect from a 35/1.4 asph, about contrast and resolution wide open compared to the 50/1.4.

At least an order of magnitude better.

I understand 50 has a higher contrast wide open, but 35 has a better flare supresion, wich makes it better even with it´s lower contrast, am I rigth?I´ve been using this lens tring to put it in dificult ligth situations, and I´m amazed how it works in such conditions, also made some test in low contrast coping a map in the wall, and I could see fine contrast from f/2 but low resolution at 1.4, very like the old 35/1.4 non asph, I think flare supresion capabilitie is what makes this lens so good, wander if is the same that happens with 35/1.4 asph?
Thanks for your answer Jay, but still let my mind so vage about my question.

The 50/1.4 does not have a particularly high-contrast image at maximum aperture, much less than the 35Lux ASPH. It is higher than contemporary (that is, 1960's-1970's)50/1.4 lenses from other manufacturers, but visibly less than the 35 Lux ASPH or the current 50/1.4 R lens. That is to say, the 50/1.4 M (current version, v.2)is the #3 champ in the world of 50/1.4's, surpassed only by the current R lens and the Zeiss 50/1.4 for the Contax SLR.

Put simply, and without use of the 50mm, the 35 Lux Asph is not much different at f/1.4 compared to the maxumum resolution aperture of f/5.6. I would expect a significant and noticeable differnce. But I cannot confirm this from direct comparison.

thanks, is important to have an idea on how to qualify a just bougth lens, so far I like ´lux f/2 better than my 50/2 DR.
