Happy to report that after our little mishap with the raccoons, the worms seem to have recovered nicely and we are ready to ship worms to those who sent payment several weeks ago. Matthew spent the last day of his Easter vacation today sorting and counting- and that's a LOT of worms for a 10 year old! There are two people, I think from this forum, who sent payment without email addresses. Don't want to mention any names, but the initials are BC from Texas and M&VD from Indiana. I'd like to get confirmation from you guys that your bins are up, ready, and waiting for the little nippers before I ship them, so please let me know if you can before Wednesday in order to avoid further delays.

When you ship, avoid telling them they're worms. Some postal clerks will refuse the shipment due to biohazard risk.

Thanks for the tip Jay. I usually ship them from my local post office where they know me! I am always shiping weird things like bees or worms- the postal clerks prefer the worms, I can tell ya! They actually told me to mark the boxes "Live worms"- they like to know not to leave them sitting out in the hot sun, for instance. But this week I will be shipping from the airport post office on my way out of town again on Wednesday. That PO is a little faster, but they have their own interpretation of the postal regs and have misinformed me on shipping policies several times. I think I'll take your advice and not lable the boxes this time.

I'd label them . . . otherwise, the worms might wind up sitting in a very hot metal mailbox. If the delivering postman knows the package contains live worms (and if he's good at his job), he'll take the worms on up to the house instead of leaving them in a mailbox, especially if it's a hot day.
