Hello all,Has anyone compared Provia 100 pushed +2 with Porvia 400? What are your thoughts?

my thoughts are the price!! think i asked something similiar to this a while back. have a look in the "film" catagory maybe.btw, i push my provia 1 1/3. nice and creamy at night.

You don't get a true 400 when you push - you will lose out detail in the shadows compared to a true 400 film.

Thanks.....I just looked at the price :-(

Several photo mags that reviewed the new Sensia films (Shuterbug, Pop Photo) implied that the Sensia 400 RH is the consumer version of the same emulsion as Provia 400 RHP for a lot less money ($4.39/$7.99 @ BH). The Sensia 100 RA is the same emulsion in consumer version as Astia RAP. Why not give it a try. Good luck.

i agree with don. i am tired of paying high prices in film. i have moved to sensia II (from provia F). i go to filmshop.com (now uniquephoto), get it for $2.77 (over 20 rolls) a roll with free postage. i paid almost $9 for it last weekend at a pharmacist. interesting point, at my local camera store provia F costs less than sensia II, due to packaging. go to the fuji website and compare the charts for the 2 films, i don't remember seeing any difference.

One day I must ask Fuji but I am not sure that Sensia 400 is the pro version of Provia 400F. I think it is more likely that Sensia 400 is the "amateur" version of the original Provia 400. But I am seeking enlightenment on this point. Certainly Sensia 100 is the amateur version of Astia. I think Provia 400F is a marvellous film and apart from its slight reduced sharpness its grain structure is outstanding - almost up to Sensia 100 standards - well certainly it means using Sensia 200, K200 or Elite 200 is rather pointless now - one can just jump straight to 400 film and get better quality.

I've rated Provia 100F at 320 several times (pushed 2 stops), and it works just fine. You end up with less grain than Provia 400F, and I didn't notice any problems in the shadows. The only problem may be increased contrast in situations that are contrasty to begin with. But it's not a big issue. The only drawback with this scenario is that you'll probably pay extra for push processing when you develop your slides.
