How do you folks who sell/trade books and mags figure you shipping costs? Especially if there might be a number shipped to one one address. Magazines are heavy! What is the best method of shipping magazines? (Least expensive) I have a few extra CS mags and a considerable number of books (mostly PB) that I am going to be clearing out soon and would like to offer them here. I've never shipped more than a few books at a time before, it seems that the cost of shipping magazines in bulk would be prohibitive.

If you'll go to the US Postal Service website:

US Postal Service

there is a calculator that will show you how much your package will cost to mail. To mail magazines or books, it's usually cheaper to ship it as Media Mail. Hope this helps!

My wife and I have traded some books recently and have found that " media mail " is the way to go. Depending where your shipping from/to it can be almost as fast as priority. Best bet is to go to your local postoffice and have them weigh your stuff and they will tell you the various prices. There are different charges to different zip codes.

If time isn't a major concern I'd send them by Postal media rate it isactually only for books and magazines. It isn't real expensive but it can be slow. Additionally did you mean Countryside by CS magazines? If so I'd be interested in them if they aren't duplicates of what I have.

Just to give you an idea I just mailed 3 years worth of Country Woman mags and it cost me 5.50. If you ask your local post master he/she can give you a USPS price and weight guide. I just use my kitchen scale or regular scale if it's too heavy and it comes real close.

I've sold books on the internet only once before to someone I thought I could trust. Never received payment for the books OR shipping, so have been a bit leery since then. However, folks seem to be happy with their deals here on the barter board so I'm going to have another try at it.

yeah , book rate for mailing is very cheap , but supposedly , its a lot slower, i have not found that to be true, whenever i mail out books , or mags, i just write on the package , book rate, lat thing i mailed out was 6 softcover 5X9 books, it came to 4.65 .. not bad all things considered
