Summicron-M 35mm pre-Asph - Canadian vs German?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
I'm wondering what differences there are, if any, between the Canadian and German versions of the Summicron-M 35mm, 4th version, pre-Aspherical.Thanks.

I'd suggest you use any of them and start improving your techniques instead. If you can shoot, you can shoot.

The country of manufacture has no impact on the optical quality of any Leica lens!

Hey 'Lux', or whoever you may be. (Not hard to guess!)What a weird response to a question that is surely entirely valid on this forum.
Clearly there are differences between lenses and also between different versions of lenses. I'm just keen to learn from those more experienced than myself what they might be on this particular lens.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Some people have complained, for example, about the construction of the pre-Asph 35mm. So I was also wondering if there was any difference in terms of construction between the Canadian and German versions. Thanks again.

No difference that I am aware of other than age, the Canadian production was first. The only thing to look out for is that the 3rd version was also made in Canada so be sure it is indeed a 4th version if that's what you're after.
