What's with this weather?!!greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
In the last 10 days here in Upstate NY, we have had 90 degrees, an earthquake, and now it's snowing (might get 3 inches by tomorrow). Is anyone else experiencing strange weather?

It snowed two days ago and now it's about a million degrees. It's been like this for a few weeks now. This is my first year in MT and someone told me that there were only three seasons here. Summer, autumn, and winter. Spring is more like winter one day and summer the next.

It does seem weird to us because, as a species, we have not been around long enough to record these cycles. It is disconcerting though! LOL LQ

I must admit I was surprised to hear from our family and friends back in western NYS (also called upstate) that it was almost 90. In my ummmmmm lets say 29+ yrs of life I have never, ever seen weather like that in NYS at this time of yr. Only way it happened wa sbefore I was born or was too young to remember. The weather here in AR has been weird too, but then living in the Ozark Mts is also an experience.

We had two beautiful days last week - more like July weather. And now it's cold enough for hats and mitts! The only good thing is that the ice has gone from my pond and that's the only real and trustworthy indication of spring. It has to come, doesn't it?

The Gold finches think it is spring! They arrived by the ga zillions yesterday, I am inclined to trust them. LOL The Hummingbirds were wrong, they got here way too early! LOL LQ
-- Little Quacker (carouselxing@juno.com), April 22, 2002.
hi LQ, always wondered where the goldfinches went when they left here.{southwest AR} We put boss in our bird feeders and the goldfinches love them, but they're only around a short time in the early spring and late fall.

sorry cindy, i live in texas. it's always hot, humid and stickey down here. That is except for the three days of winter we get.
-- TEXAS (nowhereman61@hotmail.com), April 22, 2002.
We're in southern Ontario...had the heat, now have the cold, but no snow (at least that stayed on the ground). Missed the earthquake but people 10 miles from here felt it.Russ

Hey TEXAS, at least I got to cut off the air today. hope it will last a while, know it won't

Well sounds about NORMAL to me here in Southern California.............we all know unusually warm weather is what we call "Earthquake Weather", sounds like you had some instead of us for once.We have been having 90's since early Feb on and off, that's even hot for us, no winter to speak of this year, and virtually no rain either.Call it global warming, when the world's weather gets less and less predictable, and the extremes get more extreme..............
-- Gayle (kestrel91316@aol.com), April 23, 2002.
Whether the Bush administration likes the science or not, global warming is a fact and is wrecking havoc with our climate. We humans are the culprits, and if we don't collectively change our ways soon, it may be too late. (If you live in the middle of the country, your land may be beachfront property by the time your kids inherit!)

Hey, Cindy...The weather has been pretty scary here in Saskatchewan. Mostly dry, dry, dry. Not that long ago we still had HUGE snow drifts that we could build/dig snow forts out of during winters, now there's barely enough to get the broom out. We didn't used to have a lot of tornados, now it's a summer-long concern. Especially during July. The effects of Global Warming are not very pleasant sometimes.Hope you have a great summer...Judy

8" of snow on the 8th, 90 degrees on the 16th, 4" of snow on the 21st. Over all we are still dry. Weather changes and so does climate and we are not helping a bit.
