Recent virus problem with this site?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Twice today after I visited this site, muy virus software alerted me that a "trojan horse" type virus was put into my temporary internet files that attempts to lower all the secutity levels set on my browser. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

I haven't noticed anything whatsoever. I'm not sure how possible it is to receive a virus from the LUSENET software, but I don't think it's likely. Do you remember which threads you visited?

Can't remember exactly which post, but the last time I was here, right afterwards the warning from Mcafee popped up. I just went into a few posts rright now, and the virus alert did not return. Maybe I am getting a false alarm virus alert? Kind of un-nerving. I think I'll run virus scan before I close down.

This website uses absolutely foolproof hyper-technology. Nothing can go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ... go wrong ...

As the messages on this board are plain text, there's no way to include a virus within the text. A linked web site, however, might be infected, and it is possible to relay a virus from an infected website using security holes in certain browsers. Particularly if you are running MS Internet Explorer on a PC, make sure you've installed the latest version and patches to both the browser and the underlying OS.

I haven't upgraded my anti-virus software in ages and I did receive 2 very suspicious e-mails this week. I deleted the e-mails without opening them and so I don't know anything more about them, except that they both had attachments.

I also received the same suspicious e-mails. I make it a habit never to open e-mail with attachments.

Andrew, Last week after downloading software at dpreview, the trojan horse was isolated by my anti-virus on my PC. I deleted it, and hav not had a problem since the incident. As a result, I will no longer download free internet software.

In the last two days I have received three un-repairable viruses (via email) which were quarantined (Norton's 2002). I usually average one in six months!

I regularly get mail from some "sexbaby" or "supersuper" from some Taiwanese site. Perhaps I should once open these (after backup-copying all my files on a zip discette) on my university PC, in order to complain to the ISP behind it (or them). Did anyone else receive such spam? It may as well be due to my involvement with two Ya*oo groups--two months ago I had to notify Ya*oo about having been added to another group without my consent. They deleted me after my complaint.

Luckily I've had no major problems with virus's, partly because YAHOO!! (their italics) scans all incoming attachments for them. I've opened up a couple of attachments (sent!!by people I knew) that I was notified had been scanned, virus detected and cleaned.

I have a Mac and seem to get relatively few viruses compared with PC owners. I haven't heard from sexbaby, just Snow-white from time to time.
