I am thinking get rid of the Summilux and buy a Summicron for general usage and Noticlux for low light, does that make sense? Thank you!!

Probably not. But it'll be expensive. In my experience you need first to accomplish something worthwhile with the lens you've got - and it's a fine lens. Don't sell it short. Make it work for you. If along the way you discover you really must have that Noctilux to shoot the pictures you want, then you'll be *driven* to get that lens for a good reason, and you won't need to post a question looking for justification.

Sounds like a great way to waste money.

Makes perfect sense to me. IF you can afford it. The Noctilux is a demanding lens, BUT nothing delivers images like it. It unlocks a whole new area of exploration that will rerdefine " what you want ", as mentioned by another poster here. And when the sun comes up and the "Vampire" Lux lens goes back into its' camera bag coffin, you can break out the smaller 50mm. So, how much for the 50/1.4? ( if it's black, latest and mint ). I love 50mm on a M Leica, and would like all versions to choose from.

FWIW: I had the Noctilux and bought a Summicron so I'd have a lightweight 50 for when I did not think I'd want the speed. Turned out I never carried the Noct after that because of the weight... Then I bumped into the aperture ring stop when I needed something faster than the f2 on the Cron... So I bought a 50 Lux just see how it worked. In a word, super! IMO the Lux is the perfect comproise as I now have a relatively lightweight but still quite fast 50 that is with me all of the time. I sold the Noct and the Cron and have never really looked back...

Cheers,

Sounds like a lot of money to me! I have a 'lux for low light and the current elmar for compactness. The issue is how often will you really need the extra stop that the Noctilux brings?

Many seem to live to regret selling Leica gear, including me. Ask yourself: how will you feel in 12 months time when the novelty of the purchase has worn off and you have that huge f1 brick round your neck, inducing backache and obscuring a significant part of your viewfinder?

lot of 50 usage brings this spring fellows, great! one of my favorite lenses ever.

Agree with Jack about the Summilux, is a real good lens for general propouse, I guess you have the latest one, I wonder if it is a better lens than one from mid 70īs, as the one I own.
