Fresh pork, jake miserable, country grub and [preachin]greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Well, ole Jake the mule is in misery again. His closest and bestest buddy lately was Sammy, the pig. That very close relationship came to an abrupt halt yesterday mornin. Ole jeep done'n loaded up Sammy and took'm to the packin house. Pork Chops by the first of next week!I was over at ole jeeps house awhile ago and noticed Jake a wanderin around in the pasture. He looked very sad--but then again--how do ya'll tell when a mule is sad!!! I figgered it was because of the lost friendship he had had with the hog. Oh well, ole jeep has many baby chickens, baby ducks and of course, ole Griz for to keep Jake company. Jeep did acquire a 1/4 growd duck named "Goober" from ole sis. The duck ain't no dummy--he knows his'n name and will come to ya'll when called by name!
Still fight'n the "old satan" [Troy Bilt mower] attemptin to get it mowin again. Grass is already out of hand. I had to resurrect an old wallyworld single blade mower today. It'll cut the tall stuff but is a man killer in the process. I shouldn't have any troubles with it tho---I'm just a kid---or is that--I'm in my second childhood!
At any rate-the rains have stopped for a spell I rekon. The river is so high ya'll could drive a freight train under it!
Everybody start windin down for the weekend. Enjoy those two days off [if you have two days off] before the start of a new week.
