I am doing a piece of coursework for yr11 and i am stuck. It is Religious Studies and the topic is abortion. i need views from christianity and roman catholic and any other christian group. the questions are as follows 1.What is meant by the word abortion? 2.What biblical and church teachings might be used in a discussion about abortion? 3.Explain how christians might out their beliefs about abortion into action? 4.'Abortion is it ever justified' do you agree? give reasons to support your answer and show that you have thought about different points of views YOU MUST REFER TO CHRISTIANITY!

I love your name.

I hope that this study helps you to grow in knowledge and understanding about abortion.

1) Abortion - is the termination of something after it starts. You might need Websters help for a little more accurate response.

2) CASTI CONNUBII and Humanae Vitae are just a few Church doctrines that cover abortion. More documents may be found at http://www.newadvent.org/docs/

3) I don't quite understand the question: but Christians might put their beliefs into action by standing in front of an abortion clinic and praying, giving seminars on the negativity of abortion, show scientifically how abortion is murder, and much more!

4) Abortion is as much justified as killing a 20 year old human! That is, it is only justifiable in self defense, where that person is trying to take your life, and in the fight to survive someone is killed. Therefore, sinse the unborn child is not ever trying to kill you - then there is no justifiable reason to kill him/her. This falls under the Christian doctrin "thou shalt not murder".

For a classroom essay that is probably true, although a cynic would structure their essay along the same lines as their professor's belief thinking they likely would be graded less critically.

HOWEVER, in reality, your answer is 100% wrong. Thier IS a Right and Wrong answer, in that abortion is murder of innocent children and is wrong, while saving them is good and right.

P.S. As an undergraduate, I learned very quickly to take the cynic's approach above in the social science classes. I don't think I would now, as I think all we do becomes a part of us (why we have confession I suppose ;-) ) I'd hate to think that someone would read her pro-abortion essay and decide to go have one.

Two of my students in high school are doing research papers on abortion and to help them I referred to two pro-life sites: try

priestsforlife.org and

www.all.org

The first one has some graphic pictures of aborted fetuses. The second one, from American Life League, has testimonies of women who've had abortions and how they're doing now.

After reviewing these sites, the two 18 year old girls in my class have completely changed their attitudes and are quite vocal now about the appalling procedure. God bless the work you do on this project and may it bear good fruit. Theresa
