Bert, Commenting on ads now? Ok. Well Leica does come out with limited editions as we all know. Why? because people DO collect them and Leica makes money by selling them whether you like it or not. Just to clarify my ad: The camera can also be used! Although its mint enough though, to be displayed in a museum if you do choose to. Its really up to the buyer. Thank you.

Fair enough, but as described this is not a limited edition, is it. The whole Wetzlar thing is just grotesque.

Just to clarify again: The M6 non ttl is not a limited edition. They are the first ones to come out, that have the engravings on the top plate. They are not as common as later models.

john -- just to add a reality check, there was nothing whatsoever misleading, deceptive or unfair about your original post. many many dealers charge a premium for wetzlar m6s -- especially in mint condition. just leaf thru shutterbug and see how many times a wetzlar provenance is touted in ads.

Hope you're right. My original Wetzler M6 is still unused in it's box, and I wouldn't mind getting as much as I can out of it toward an M7. It was certainly $1100 wasted.

Bill, use the M6 and forget about the M7. Basically, the same thing. Only the M7 has more which can go wrong.

Only the first two years or so of M6 production have the Leitz red dot and Leitz Wetzlar engraving, so their aren't as many M6 (classic) Leitz cameras as M6 (classic) Leica cameras. And the chrome Leitz M6s are probably less common than the black ones. So this can be considered a collectible if it is mint in the box. I think this may make the camera easier to sell than if it said Leica rather than Leitz. However, don't expect a very large premium, as the collector market is depressed and collectors have not developed a great affinity for these early M6 cameras anyway.
