Leica IIIB with Summitar 50mm, very minty, last call

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I will put this camera on eBay tommorow evening. I am helping a friend sell his collection. All near mint or mint items. This is a rare IIIB, with crystal clear f/2 50mm Summitar, #557 out of a run of 1000. This unit it totally "as new" as you can get for a camera made in 1937/1938. The McKeown Price guide says, "This was the last pre-war camera produced by Leitz," and "Hard to find in excellent condition." This is as near perfect as near perfect can be....even at 1 second...no hesitation. It's even quieter than my IIIC. $750 firm plus $10 priority insured shipping USA. First serious buyer has it. contact me at fredrick@hotcity.com. Thanks...Todd

Sale Pending...if interested please contact me to be put on a wait list. I will have more units available from my friend soon.

Tony...hope it is ok to let the Leica people here know about these cameras for sale. My friend who is selling his collection is George Lauterstein (web page: www.georgelauterstein.com). I'd rather let our friends here know about these items than just total strangers on eBay. We're not making profits on this and I get nothing for my help...he's just a great friend.

If the sale falls through, let me know. My father's first camera was the IIIB (or G 1938 as it was also called). He even gave me the serial number of the one he had. He was really proud of it. I think he even had the Summitar. Or maybe it was a Summar.

It's been sold. I'll try to get some more from George. I don't know exactly what he has. You could also contact him personally as well through his website e-mail address. Peace and blessings.
