This is the Day The Lord Has Made, Let Us Rejoice and Be Glad In It

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry. Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is yesterday with its mistakes and cares, Its faults and blunders, Its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed. We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow. With its possible adversities, Its burdens, Its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow’s Sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.

This just leaves only one day...Today. Any person can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity’s - yesterday and tomorrow that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.

Let us therefore live but one day at a time.

You post some of the most beautiful thoughts. Each time I read them, I find myself slowing down and digesting each morsel within them. There is so much truth within this one that I just had to tell you Thank You for putting it out here for all of us to read.

Two of my favorite sayings of all times are the Serenity Prayer and Footprints. To me, they say it all.

As to the waffles: I use a mix (simple, huh?). I add an egg, some oil, milk (not water), and a just a tish of vanilla. Make sure the waffle iron is VERY hot before you put the batter in it. Either spray it with a non-stick or brush it lightly with oil before you use it. Even it's a non-stick surface, I found that I need to do that or they still stick. (You may have to toss one waffle out just to get the excess oil out of the iron.) The oil in the waffle batter helps too. Don't look for the color of the waffle to decide when it's done. Look at the steam coming from the waffle iron. When it quits steaming, the waffle is done. It will be a lighter brown, but the surface will be crisp and the inside will be done. I never follow the directions on the mix box cause they make the waffles too doughy. I add a little more milk to the batter than it calls for. You don't want a pancake batter because that's too thin; this batter should be thick, but not so thick that it doesn't spread out when put in the waffle iron. You may have to help spread it out. If you want fruit in your waffles, you can add that too. I've always added it in the waffle iron instead of in the batter, but you can do it either way. Just make sure that the fruit is in small pieces or it won't cook right. Good luck and let me know how they turn out.

Absolutly Mary Lu. My family gathers at my house every Sunday after Church.

We have brunch and talk about the service while sipping on coffee. We talk about the things we are thankful for. This Sunday, we'll not only be thanking the Lord for his wonderful gifts, but Carolyn too, for the recipe for yummy waffels.

By golly Mary Lu, I think there is religion in these waffel posts!!!

What were you referring to when you talked about the story behind the Footprints? I too love Footprints. In fact, it is the only art object I ever asked my wife to buy (yes, she makes ALL decisions as to how to decorate the house!). We have it hanging in the hallway at the top of the stairs so it is fairly prominent.

Waffles?? For Me, it is a nice hunk of haddock or Cod or salmon with all the veggies cooked in wineand olive oil in aluminum foil (Fully enclosed)on the grill. I make this every Friday nite. Yummy and Carolyn LOVES it too.

I think prayer is working on the forum and good is overcoming the evil that has transpired here for the last week or so. Prayer does work and Satan is so sneaky we don't even see him coming, do we?

I was quite busy today training a new puppy :) but am glad to read the beautiful, positive, prayerful posts today.

Sorry I did not get back to you earlier.

I will check to see if I still have the book downstairs. I was referring to the original author of Footprints and her story - how she came to write the poem, and how all of her writings were stolen when she moved (including Footprints), etc...and how she discovered the poem in card stores, book stores, airports (on mugs and T- shirts), etc...and all the money she could have made, but unfortunately they were not copyrighted or something...don't remember the entire story completely.

I will check the title of the book for you.

Footprints is a very special poem to me, very special. My daughter gave me the most beautiful 3-dimension picture of Jesus with His hands coming out of the clouds reaching down towards the beach and the poem is Footprints...
