dripping trees

greenspun.com : LUSENET : CountrySide Family : One Thread

all the pine trees around here are dripping. If you stand under them,, it feels like a light rain.. I dont remember it being this bad before, but maybe with all the rain we have had, its adding to it. Anyone else having this phenomenon??

Is it the sticky pine sap or is it more like water? We had about 30 really big pines in WI but they dripped sticky pine sap that would ruin the finish on a car & was a real pain to get out of your hair. The dripping was never very heavy, more like 15-20 drops a day per tree, at least that's what I counted on my car. :(

it sounds and feels like water, but when it dries on you,, it turns sticky and smells lik epine sap. I havnt seen it fall this heavy before. And I dont park under them, so I dont worry about that, though my clothesline does go under some of them,,, maybe I should rethink that

Our maple trees do this every summer. It turns out it is due to tiny caterpillers chewing the leaves.

My water hickory is doing it too.
