I am not a photographer, but I have always like black and white photography, and I want to take a shot at it. Does anyone have suggestions about a camera type for a newcomer like me?

Any ol' camera will do

I suggest a simple camera, nothing overly pricey. Manual will allow you to control the shots better. Write down, or record what you do and immediately process the film while what you did is still fresh in your mind. Reshooting will give immediate improvement!
