In the recent meeting of U:S: Religious Orders in Philadelphia the Religious seemed to consider that the Bishops rulings on pedophile Priests were harsh and seemed to disagree to a certain extent on their content. What is the general feeling on this issue?

I don't think the ruling was harsh. There is nothing more important than for a sex addict to get out of that storm that has him under siege. He ought to be willing to go to any lenghts to overcome his habit. And such a person who is lost in a sex habit, and does not seek constant recovery from it, does not belong in a position as a pillar of the community. Also relapse is easy once the habit is formed and harsh consequenses are one thing needed to keep the sex addict, who is also an active priest, on the straight and narrow.

I am in agreement with Mike on this issue.

In addition here on the West Coast of Canada we have had a " new " rash of exposed clergy who are/were pedophiles. It appears our ArchBishop turned a blind eye to the history of the American ordained who asked for re-assignment(s) by their Bishops.Yes harshness is needed to not only stem but totally void this illness from those having responsibilities at all levels. Should one walk talk and keep the company of ducks then surely he/she is a duck.
