Greenspuns futuregreenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread |
Trying to stay away but felt obligied to post this message for you guys.Visting another site on greenspun, I see that they are in the process of moving sites...1) why ILx is moving (the Greenspun server is not being maintained),
The greenspun.com server is provided out of the kindness of Phil Greenspun's heart. He no longer maintains it and it keeps going down and may go down for good one day.
Chris B or the moderator may be able to provide more accurate information on greenspuns future, those arty music types I sometimes associate with have always been a bit flighty and dramatic so I wouldnt stress. Take it easy all.

This is sad to read having been a member over three - four years now. It appears perhaps the forum has imploded with so much " Holier Than Thou " types professing love etc: but wielding a large cudgel named guilt and arrogance.

Agreed.

Jean:
You take your choice; ''holier'' or ''sadder''. I'm happy with holier, so it has not saddened me.Is the ''cudgel'' of guilt and arrogance anywhere nearby, so you can show it to us? You keep referring to this mythical cudgel. Isn't it merely a figment of your poor imagination?
Who has been ''guilty'', that you should judge him/her? And-- when anyone opposes your liberal views, is it from arrogance alone? It might be from love of the TRUTH-- don't you confuse that for arrogance? Are you EVER intellectually honest?

Eugene - you are of course one of those involved in the demise.
-- Jean Bouchard (jeanb@cwk.imag.net), August 12, 2002.
Jean,Please don't leave me out! Can you blame me for the demise too?
I just bought a "large cudgel" at Costco. Like everything else, it's cheaper to buy in quantity using my Costco membership. I named it "guilt and arrogance," just like you wanted!
I have no doubt that Phil Greenspun is really disappointed with the posts here on the Catholic forum. It's because of us that he's going to bring down the entire Greenspun site. I didn't realize this until you made the connection, Jean. Hahahaha!
Enjoy,
Mateo

Yeah, you're right. There are 40 or so forums on Greenspun, but the guilt and arrogance on THIS forum is what made him decide he wasn't interested in maintaining it anymore, LOL. For someone who's always saying how critical we are of others it sure is ironic you'd try and lay this at our feet! I think you owe the forum an apology.

Jean,WHAT DEMISE have you lumped me into? You take it as a given that Greenspun will die. We have it from Kiwi, a New Zealander offering the conjecture, not from the Geenspun site. As the preceding posts also inform you, we're just one forum out of many, many more. Do you lump them into your "demise', or are the Catholics altogether the reason?
Jean, Mon Ami! Please calm down and save your vitriol for opponents who deserve it. We're faithful Catholics in this place. Catholics who welcome you into the fold. If I hated you I wouldn't state this openly. We have witnesses, Jean--

ok calm down . What if the site did go down, and the alternative site Gail offered on the other thread didn't work, then what? I hate to sound so idealistic, let's be good to each other.Hey, I wonder what it'll be like in Heaven. I mean would we all recognized each other, by just knowing, having our resurrected bodies, wow what a party!
