So post your dang URL already

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Xeney : One Thread

I agree with whoever said there oughta be a nibelung ring for this, but here's the low-rent version until someone sets that up.

Since we can't go spy on your profiles, what's your URL?

Well, I don't have one. I just cancelled gardengeekgirl.com at West Host, with the idea of transferring it elsewhere. But my e-mail contact for that account is an old e-mail address that hasn't worked in years. So I fucked that up. My only domain with any actual information on it, and I fucked it up.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

You should be able to get ahold of that domain somehow though, right? Seems like they should have contingency plans for that. Should being the operative word, I suppose.

I have my livejournal url, which I seem to only use lately to post my American Idol bitching:

Innocentgurl

And then my recently launched Buffy site of pain:

Boils and Blinding Torment

Which, by the way, if Stacey happens by -- if you don't end up starting that Yahoo spoiler group, feel free to use the spoiler thread on the newly opened board on B&BT. You got me addicted to the crack. You have to keep my fix coming!

Field Notes: written in code

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I'm here. It's still pretty much a baby journal (not yet one year old) and I'm still not sure if it's crap or not, but I'm glad I have it.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I was actually thinking of just starting a spoiler thread here -- might be the simplest thing to do now that threads are proliferating anyway. But right now there's nothing new to spoil anyway, that I'm aware of. As soon as there is, I will keep the spoilers flowing one way or another!

My URL is http://www.analecta.net, but it's not as if I've updated in ages. I did actually write an entry last night, but then I was too tired to deal with the HTML-ing process. I really need to figure out how to set up the journal script or one of the similar things that would make my life easier.

Anyway, if y'all want to read totally out of date ramblings, that's where they live. Knock yourself out.

Not that there's anything there worth reading at the moment, but my (poor, sad, neglected, ugly-as-ass) weblog is still around. The journal won't be back until November. Ish.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I'm tight-science.com. But these days, I spend more time updating the JournalCon site than I do my own.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Making lemonade and all that crap: I discovered that the domain I really wanted all along, gardengeek.com, was available. So I set myself up to snipe my old domain when it expires, and I'll just set it to point to the same place.

But as of tomorrow, my url is gardengeek.com.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Stacey, I'd never gone to your website before. The first thing I saw was the Leonard Cohen quote. I have the exact same thing, quoted to me by a friend when I was in a very bad way, over my desk at home. Very cool.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

*blink*

Trying to picture the Web without any Beth-presence.

Have I mentioned how oddly red the moon and the sun have been for the last few days? I'm starting to fear the worst.

Repent, people. The end is near. (Oh whew, just read the latest... it's official. Beth just saved the universe.)

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Yay, Plin's journal is coming back. Is it November-ish yet?

I'm at http://karen.diary-x.com/

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I'm at Becky Says....

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I have that quote posted on my wall too. I'm not too big with the "faux-inspirational quotes mounted over my desk" thing, but for some reason that one really works for me. Yay, Leonard Cohen!

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Nibelung ring in progress. The title is "TUS in Exile", the ID is "suspects", the password is "Bethadone". Go here, use the password, add your own sweet self to the list.

(URL in case I messed something up: http://www.nibelung.org/cgi- bin/nibelung?name=suspects&task=list )

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Hee: The Homeland. I love it. Where's that damned Homeland Security Office when you really need it?

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I'm not keeping my journal anymore -- but, um, as of five minutes ago I put up some archives. So now I'm all legit for Journalcon! Thought Experiment.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

i added myself to the nibelung ring (thanks susan!), but my URL is:

mrow.net

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Mine is Adventures in the Big City< /a> But, right now there's nothing up there. I haven't decided what next to do with the site. I'm contemplating a new journal, but I've been too busy/lazy to do anything about it. Stay tuned...

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Okay, I'm dumb and screwed up the html. But, the link works...

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Susan, you are my newest TUS crush. First the Syrup post, now the exiles ring. I love you, man.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I am not keeping a journal at the moment, but you can get to all my archives at Book of the Amber Dragon.

As soon as the thesis is under control, my journal shall be returning.

What Syrup post? Was there one after the whole first debacle? Or is that the one being referred to?

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Yah, what is this about Syrup? A recent development? Everyone keeps talking about it, and I'm confused.

I'll go join the Nibelung ring. If I try to post a link here I'm bound to screw it up (my brain = moooosh).

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Susan's post I was referencing above is over in the Memorial Griping thread (I would italicize or link or something, if this were the shiny Homeland):

Clearly the board went down because Syrup hacked the servers in retaliation for our mean- mean-mean treatment of her. You can picture her, can't you? Hunched over the keyboard at the public library, giggling to herself, saying "thatll show them to call me stupid and then there all going to be sorry."

***

There evidently was an e-mail or something earlier that I didn't see which shared the news that Syrup was one of a very select group of users whose profiles didn't get hosed in the crash. (God? Hosed. Syrup and the FuckFuckFuck Police? Not hosed. Coincidence?)

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I'm currently working on Orangekat which features my randomly blathered blog

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Yes, that's the Syrup story. Syrup, that guy we called "The FuckFuckFuck Police" during the one day he was around, and three other random people, plus me and Jeremy. The rest of you got deleted, including God and Lynda.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

It amuses me to no end to suddenly find myself keeping company with God in the outcast corner.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

When the forum is back, I vote that your user title reflect your special status. Something like God-like Outcast, or Here in the Corner With God. It's dignified and a bit scary, as is only fitting.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

The fact that Syrup and the Fuck Fuck Fuck Police were among the handful of people not deleted seems a little too obvious. If you're gonna hack the system, why leave a big red flag pointing to you as the culprit?

I think it was Morpheus, trying to teach us all not to put so much stock in forum-based relationships.

Of course, it backfired by showing us all how much we love & need the forum and each other.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Man. I still harbor resentment toward that FuckFuckFuck Police dude because he never showed up again after Beth baptized him. I think I was responsible for that user title. I'm sure he's responsible for the server mess. Cocksucker.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I'm here.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I think there's about... ohhh, three people who actually visited my URL from here, but there's my journally writing here and my longer writing here, in case anyone misses it.

Speaking of missing, this is my first visit back, and I'm completely horrified at what's happened to you, Beth. I'm glad to hear you've peeled a few layers off of your former hosts, and you've motivated me to -- for absolutely no reason -- fanatically back up all of my sites to my local machine.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

I swear, I'm not posting right after Mike on purpose ...

I also swear that Triumph and Disaster will be updated again very soon, or at least before October.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Mine is here. There's a list of recent journaly-type journal entries on the front, and links to the garden journal, the wedding journal, my fiction (by a round-about way) and to the blog that I share with the husband.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

My journal is here.

You're a treasure Susan. The Nibelung ring idea is tops.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

My infrequently updated journal is at: http://www.scriptbrads.tv

Whew! I'm glad we can congregate at the old greenspun forum.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Mutteringfool.com

Splash page to journal, blog, and fat positive group blog. Damn, I miss the regular forum.

-- Anonymous, August 14, 2002

Hot Buttered Death. It shits aliens.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2002

Well, if somebody is really desperate for something to read, I have some random crap at http://mel771.diaryland.com/.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2002

Glitter

That's me!

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2002

I just posted a long-ass entry on my boobs.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2002

Wasn't it hard writing upside down like that?

(Ducking.)

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2002

I first read that and was like, "Geez, my new bra doesn't make it so I can't reach the keyboard, Beth." And then I read what I wrote and figured it out. Apparently size of boobs and IQ are inversely related or something.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2002

Mine doesn't seem to be there - ??? It never made it onto Kymm's ring either. Maybe Nibelung is allergic to my blog?

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

I added it for you. It should be there, now (it is for me, anyway).

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

Added myself to the ring. I'm at A cat by any other name.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

[private message] thank you! [/private message]

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

I think someone else is logged into the ring right now, so I'll try later; meanwhile I'm at http://penguindust.com/lisa/journals/

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

Man, there are so many of you on the ring list. Almost makes me wanna start my own webjournal.

Almost.

:)

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

I added my journal URL to the ring, since somebody commented awhile back that it was weird I hadn't mentioned that around here.

The weblog is here, but I figured it wasn't the best idea to hog two linkspaces on the ring just 'cause I have two different site URL's.
