OK, I need to tell someone that my little female Sheltie is still very sick and it sucks. For me and for her. The vet doesn't know what's wrong, exactly, and while he's ruled out the obvious scary stuff (cancer being among them) he's loaded her up with antibiotics just in case (which upset her tummy) and major narcotics, since she's clearly in distress. The drugs zone her totally - every time she cools out on the floor I think she's gone. She's not eating, she's not responding too much, and it's like she's waiting to die. (She is drinking lots of water, though, so that's good.)The vet just says she's very, very old. People, she's nine - that's not terribly old for a Sheltie. Poor puppy.

He said nine was very, very old? Wow.Poor dog. My best dog ever was a sheltie mix. I hope she gets better soon, Catherine.

I'm really sorry to hear this, Catherine. How long must she be on the meds? The narcotics will keep her from wanting to eat but drinking water is good. I'm sending good thoughts your way.Are you able to take her to a different vet?

Catherine, just this morning on Animal Planet I heard that not eating and drinking lots of water can be a symptom of kidney disease. Has your vet looked at that? Just a thought. I hope she's better soon.

Oh, Catherine, that sucks. I don't think that nine is that old. I hope not, anyway! Shelties are so sweet. I hope she's better very soon.
