That is a very cool article. The whole off to surgery in Lisbon etc. makes me nervous, but I'm one of those cautious academic types. Just in case more ganglion cells die on my retina I'm hoping the artificial retina work progresses well. (I have a lesion no one knows the cause of that gives me a weird blind spot - it has mostly healed, as my brain has found a way to fill it in largely, but I don't have good motion sight in one area.)
