Movies you can't wait to seegreenspun.com : LUSENET : Xeney : One Thread |
I want to go see My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and maybe Blue Crush (although I'll deny that in public). Plus, I've heard The Bourne Identity is good, and I still haven't seen it.You?

Also, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Lilo and Stitch - although I don't even know if that's still out - and now I feel like I have to go rent The Graduate, just to make comparisons and whatnot. Maybe I'll just read it instead (yeah, better idea). For some odd reason I want to see that movie with Matthew Perry, I forget what it's called though. He is the only reason I want to see it. I'm such a whore for the cast of Friends.

Well, movies that are currently out or movies that haven't yet come out but will soon?Of the movies that are coming out soon (because, I would make the assumption that a movie that is currently out is one that I would have already seen because I wouldn't wait to see it): Simone, Igby Goes Down, Spirited Away (which I am DYING to see), Secretary. That'll take me to the end of September. October, November, and December will be EXTREMELY busy movie months for me. Tons of great movies out then.
Is it sad that, up to the end of the year, I have in my paper weekly planner all the movies that are coming out on that day that I want to see? On October 11th, I want to see 6 movies that are coming out that day. Sad. Sad.

Well, if we're talking about movies that have yet to be released, I trust you all will see the Chicago movie for me, yes? Because the movie is going to be hot, and the soundtrack is hot, and the cast is hot (and you could take that in terms of acting and easy-on-the-eyes factor, because I mean, honestly....), so i t's gonna be good :-)And I'm adding Signs to the list, I'm not sure why, but I want to see that. And once I get to school I have every intention of seeing Rocky Horror, preferably with live cast, at least once per semester. I can't think of anything else right now.

Sarah, I'm not sure I can bring myself to watch the Chicago movie. But I'll try to get myself into a theater, just for you.Me, I'm still waiting for Prozac Nation to find its way here. Also wanting to see Lovely and Amazing, but I think I may have missed its run here, so I may have to wait for the DVD.

I, too, am now looking forward to seeing Blue Crush and I also still want to see Lovely and Amazing. I also want to see 24 Hour Party People because I'm a big Brit-pop- loving freak. I am also psyched that the Bollywood epic Lagaan is coming to my neighborhood second-run movie theater in a couple of weeks.

Jen, is a Bollywood movie anything other than an epic? I never get out to see movies in theaters, but I really want to experience the Naz8 here in Fremont. It's the first foreign multiplex in the Bay Area, showing mostly Indian films. The snacks are supposed to be amazing. I pledge my allegiance to any movie theater where I can drink a mango lassi!

Katie, Len and I actually decided quite a while ago that someday we should have a little movie theater, and we'd sell mango lassis. Can we count on you to be one of our regular customers, then? He makes really good lassis.

Oh, yes! And the twins and Archie, as well (I can't speak for Charlotte yet, but she always seems to enjoy her feed after I drink one!). I've been looking for a good recipie. Would Len mind sharing?
-- Anonymous, August 17, 2002
I'll ask him, but I don't think he uses a recipe per se. I think he's just of the "throw what seems like a reasonable amount of each ingredient in the blender and hope for the best" school of thought.

Mental Note: Buy mangoes and yogurt before Len gets here. Stacey, are there any other ingredients I should pick up to ensure that they will get made?
-- Anonymous, August 17, 2002
I love mango lassi but my intestinal tract really doesn't like the yoghurt. I like it with bits of crushed ice in it. Mm.

I think it's just mangoes, yogurt, and sugar. I'll check with him later and let you know, Blake. If he ever surfaces from whatever terrible driving game he just bought at CompUSA.On topic, I'm looking forward to Possession as well. Except that I feel as if I should re-read the book first, but I don't think I have time.

Movie that hasn't been released yet... 'Once Upon a Time in the Midlands', with Robert Carlyle (yum!). And, actually, another Carlyle film from Australia, 'Black and White'... And 'The Two Towers', and the next Harry Potter. Heh.

We just went to see Possession, and it was pretty decent. Not on a par with the book, of course, but not bad at all. I loved the book so much that it makes it hard to judge - but it did manage to capture the main points of the book, and get in a little bit of poetry, and I bawled my head off at the end at exactly the same place where I did in the book. (I don't know why that scene with May gets to me so much!)
