Those of you that ride horses might be interested in this article on how horses see, appears that that ridding the traditonal style leaves the horse blind as to what is in front of them. http://www.psy.uwa.edu.au/user/stephen/horse.htmAlso tired the use of vinegar to wash hands after mixing cement and stucco and it does keep your hands from drying out, since the acidity of the vinegar counters that alkalinity of the cement, however the vinegar will make you very much aware of every little scratch that you have on your hands.

B.C., do you know if vinegar would work the same way if you're working with dirt? I have so much problem with dryness after I mix up potting soil, etc. I never heard about using vinegar to counteract cement caused skin drying but I definatly will try it. My hands get so dry they crack at the joints. :( I haven't read the article on horse vision yet but I will later tonight.

is the soil you are working wiht, acidic, or alkaline?,, if alkaline, then vinegar would work,, if acidic,, then a lime would work. How about a moisturizer?

I use moisturizer but I keep rubbing it in & it just keeps absorbing. I tried one time to see just how much it would take before I no longer needed to add more & it was still absorbing each application 45 min later! I have tried just about every brand and it's always the same way. I don't have dry skin otherwise just on my hands. When I worked in the hospital it was even worse-it went about half way up my forearms, mostly due to washing your hands so much. I wonder if all the radiation from working in the XRay dept for 20 yrs had some affect on my skin?

I found that taking a few table spoons of olive oil , once in the morning and in the evening, helps greatly for dry hands. It's also suppose to help clean the liver .Seems the olive oil seeps out through the pores of the skin. It's like using hand cream from the inside out.

BC - - the vinegar on the hands reminded me of something. Now and then I get sinus headaches. I can withstand just about any pain below the neck, but above the neck - - - - - - it seems magnified many times over - - it simply paralyzes me. So - - after several days of sinus headaches, and pain beneath my left eye, I decided I would try the "vinegar kills germs" remedy. I put vinegar in a glass, added a mere touch of water, and then . . . . . yep. . . I did it. . . snorted that vinegar up my nose. What a life lesson! I think there were fireballs in my brain!. I knew immediately the track my sinus made inside my skull - - -I felt that vinegar move up the nasal passage, behind the eye socket, across the forehead, then the top of the head, and then down the back of my head to the neck. Talk about heat! ! And my first thought was " I can't believe I just did that".
Come to think of it - - I seem to have a propensity for doing some real dumb things!
By the way BC - - your note arrived. Worry yourself no more. ( Just don't bill me for the gas to the landfill - laughing). I went round n round with the post office over the amount of postage - - which got me right back where I started. The recent postal increase really raised the fees ! ! It was twice as much as the one to Stan, and I doubt it is worth it! I don't expect anything in return.
