http://www.nature.com/nsu/020916/020916-8.htmlthis reminds me of our discussion about experiences and their reality... If out of body experiences are a function (broken or not) of the brain, that certainly seems to open up a new avenue of exploring our minds. What other "supernatural" experiences are just caused by a part of our brain?

That link to my name is an inexplicable phenomenon, sorta supernatural like ^..^ However, in thinking about it ALL are experiences are chemical because WE are made of chemical reactions. What we see is the product of a chemical reaction, what we hear is the product of a chemical reaction...

Lincoln saw himself dead in a dream. Possibly a chemical reaction involving time. Just a thought.

Could be an interesting Flux script: 'Aeon's dreaming: she sees herself stretched out in a cool deathlike state, it will come to pass she knows...Chung will see to it. More than several Breens lament her passing behind masklike faces. Chairman Trevor Goodchild is surprised at his own intense reaction to this rival's deathlike stare... (Aeon's dream you know) Aeon's mystical chemistry affects even time, a loop commences...

No, the truth is actually I'm not sure, when I originally read it I thought it was hilarious. It was later the double meaning occurred to me, now you can see why I am still working on the meanings of some of the plots.

To Peter Gaffney; hope you know I know you know we know it was meant in good fun.

if i stuck a pin in your brain in the right place, i could probably make you think you were flying. just because you sense it to be real, it doesn't make it real. I'm sure deja vu's are simply your brain saving its signal to the wrong place so you precieve it to be a memory even as it seems to happen in the present. It's the deja vu's you get that allow you to see what will happen before they do that i cant explain.
-- tom (tom@aeon-flux.com), September 26, 2002.
Clearly you can't explain it, because its not really a brain thing. It (most likely) has to do with the nature of space time, and perhaps the truely infirm nature of our conscienceness. We all know that most phycic/supernatural experiences are phony like 3 dollar bills. Then again who can deny the exisitng success rate of phycics used by police? This isn't really the point. Drugs cause supernatural expiences. Any experience you can have I'll wager can be repoduced chemically, as for pins in the brain I'll settle for that thing where they cut a peice out of your skull and the oxygen level in your brain skyrockets.

An holographic phenomenon caused by synchronous time lines? Ghosts of the future and past?... oo__oo

Or maybe Trevor learns how to make his mental chemistry affect reality enough for him to fully grasp 'it' and control 'it' and even physically bend 'it'.....Uh, from a metaphysical angle. Thus he 'metaphysically' traps Aeon in the realms of his own mental conscience. Upping the anti on his omniscience so as to have Aeon once and for all!?

Crap circles!
-- Peter Gaffney (trypsys@hotmail.com), October 07, 2002.
Of course, knowing trevor, he'd quickly become disenchanted with total control over reality. He wouldn't have the mind games, the "play" with Aeon that he always wanted...Which would be exactly what Aeon would want, because, knowing her, she'd have discovered the secret too- and as soon as Trevor backed down, she'd take control.
