$100 on offer at websitegreenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread |
$100 is on offer at a website who can prove by scripture in the bible that by becoming incarnate, Jesus Christ introduced a new economy of images as stated in the Catechism...2131 "the seventh ecumenical council at Nicea (787) justified against the iconoclasts the veneration of icons - of Christ, but also of the Mother of God, the angels, and all the saints. By becoming incarnate, the Son of God introduced a new "economy" of images."

OliverI believe you DO NOT celebrate Christmas on 25th December. Do you?
If you do, then I will offer you 1000 Malaysian Ringgit (1US$=3.80ringgit) if you can prove by Scripture in the Bible that Christ was born on 25th December. If you can't prove it then stay away from Christmas.
God Bless

OliverI very glad that you have well stay away form Christmas. I knew it as much and is very happy for you.
By the way NOBODY has ever taught me that I have to wait for 1 day in a year to praise Jesus for his incarnation. Not even the Catholic Church.
Anyway I hope you keep on praising Jesus everyday and please pray for me too. Thanking you in advance.
God Bless

Oliver, I'm not real sure what your intent here. Why spend such negative energy?
A lot of time and effort has been made in an attempt to degrade the Catholic Church. Why not spend the energy, evangalizing to people who don't know Christ at all?
Have you ever read anything by Scott Hahn?
May God bless you!!

Sorry bro. You make a good point.

Of course, no one can PROVE that Jesus was born on December 25 (so I guess I'm out the hundred bucks - darn! and just before Christmas too! ;-) ). However, you may want to consider this:At one point in Scripture, John the Baptist says of Jesus, "He must increase, and I must decrease."
Now - the birth of John the Baptist is traditionally held to be on or near the Summer Solstice (@ June 25) - when the days begin to grow shorter (i.e., the sun decreases). And December 25, Jesus' traditional date of birth, is right around the time of the Winter Solstice (when the sun increases) - ergo, ipso facto, one "son" (John) decreases while the other Son (Jesus) increases!
Just something fun to work around in your brain pan ... ;-)
