Fr. Marciel Maciel, LC, You are a HERO

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Fr. Maciel,

Thanks for dedicating your entire life to Jesus Christ. You not only saved my life when I was young and hard of heart, I now have a beautiful wife, a son and two lovely daughters to sing praises to Christ. The greatest man who ever lived was nailed to a cross, while his friends fled in cowardice. I know this is true, and still it breaks my heart to see you crucified in so shameful a manner by men who once claimed to be your loyal friends. I know you ask us to forgive and pray for them, even so. May the grace Christ has so filled you with reach into my heart, otherwise I cannot forgive these men who "cursed the bread" as they stuffed themselves. Please recall me in your prayers, Nuestro Padre.

Love, An Ex Legionary

What a sumptiously moving petition to one's fellow man. Though he cannot hear us, his memory lives on in our hearts.

Use some *shock* independent thought while reading this one... try and remember how you felt before you were born or conceived. You can't. Why? Because you didn't exist as a living being. That's what death is like. Face it, it truly is eternal rest.

Hey Weiner, check out Revelation 20, John ch 3, and Romans 3 and 8 for more information on salvation and eternal life (after death). You seem really cool and I'm glad that you are opinionated. Don't forget that the best opinions are the ones based on fact.

I've heard this theory before - that since we didn't exist before we were born, we shouldn't mind not existing after we die because it will be exactly the same state of nonbeing.

Nice try, but it doesn't really hold up. Every human being is a new creation who spends her entire life growing and developing - and to think that is just cut off at the moment of death is ... well, it's a little naive.

That's mighty nice of you Joel. Yes, and I'm so glad you hang with me now; not everybody is happy about my opinions. --Ciao!

I agree with the Jesus bit but you'll have to forgive me if I don't agree with Maciel be a hero, I don't personally think so.
