My G-G-G-Grandfather was Adam Whitley born circa 1823 his 1st. wife was Sally or Sarah and his 2nd. wife was Nelly Hinson. Adam may have been killed in action in War between the States, (42nd. NC Co. C). Adam's children were Ellen P., John A., Becky, Green D., Sarah E., and Mary J. Trying to find more information about family before the war.

Walt Misenheimer of Albemarle, NC did an article for the new Stanly Co. Heritage Book about the soldiers who served in the Civil War from Stanly Co. In this he lists Co. C. 42nd Reg. Under Adam Whitley he said that Adam was a Pvt. enlisted at age 39 on 01 Feb 1862 died at Weldon Hospital on 05 Mar 1863.
