Harrison that is going to take some work to build and thats a wonderful idea. you may need to get some heavy servos and it will be a trick to get it to steer.

Hey!!!Me and my brother are also trying to built a chain saw powered rc car, we are in a phase of material chasing, but we have the engine, is a 38cc 2 strokes air cooled gas engine from a chainsaw whith 1.95 hp. We also have a 2 ch radio, but dont have the high torque servos, we have to find a way to put some type of suspention because is going to be a 2wd off road car, the transmition is going to be by chain to the rear axle, just like a Quad bike.

im building one too ive got a 32cc hedge cutter engine because it has a centrifugal clutch like a nitro rc car, ive built the chassis out of couple of old race rc cars i had lying around and its now about a metre long with about 6ins of ground clearence the front and rear axles are of an old rc electric truck with a graupner (rc boat) gearbox to gear it down and give the ability to go up some decent hills and pretty quick too.

i also am trying to make a chainsaw powered rc car, i have this 35 cc engine. I think for the steering, just copy the design of an already existing rc car, but make it larger and use a larger servo which can be found at your local hobby store, but i also have a question, on a normal rc car, making the engine reverse is how u stop it, but with a petrol one u cant just put it in reverse so do u need another servo for the brake? and if so, can it be controlled by the same channel of the transmitter as the throttle? Like if forward put the throttle on and backward put the brake on?

Ive been playing with various small engines for a while, my current project involves a 99cc 2 stroke chainsaw producing 5 hp, its to heavy to steer, so i drag race it. I welded a small gear from a mountain bike to the outside of the clutch and a 32 tooth gaer to the rear axle, this allows you to use a normal bike chain, bmx chains are wider and stronger, im currently experimenting with different gears on the back to find the top speed. Happy building

ive been building rc since i was 10, im now 14, my new est project is also a chain saw rc. its about 40 cc. im not too sure. ive built a frame out of metal tubing. its a chain drive. its a 3-channal raidio and ive started on the boddie. but i still need to do the shocks steering and acceleration. i also have made 2- gas powerd rc. boats in the past. 1 electric boat, 2 eloectic rc cars and and mabie ill start on a helicopter when i make a grand for a jet motor and propeller

my reply is not an answer; but i just got into the idea my self. im using an old "Homelite" chainsaw, 32cc. its got about 2hp. i just got the %*#@! thing to run. now i am customising a chassis out of aluminum and looking for more help on suspension and specialised large scale drive train, gear box, slip differantial, etc. any help would be useful. ANY help at all. oh yeah; everyone and anyone who is building a R/C chainsaw monster rocks. lets start a crew if there isn't one already!
