Cat Question

Hi

I have bought a cat. She is a house bound cat, approximately 18 months old, spayed and I got her from a shelter with no history of why she had been taken there.

But she does have an annoying habit of waking me up at all times of the night by meowing at me. Usually she either sits by my bed until I stroke her or put her on my bed and then she goes to sleep.

Does anyone know why she does this? Is it a settling in thing? Or is there anything I can do to discourage her? I have tried ignoring it but it didn't work.

If anyone has any suggestions I wouldd be grateful

Thanks

Our cat - housebound also - does this. She will drag her toy, a piece of yarn about 3 feet long with a plastic handle about 1 foot long, into our bedroom at all hours, yowling with the thing in her mouth, wanting to play. One thing we had done was put one of her beds in our room with us, and this seems to work for us. She does leave us alone more than before, but she still likes to snuggle in with us, and likes to sleep on our legs. Nothing like waking up, not able to feel your legs because an 11 pund weight is on them.

The only thing we hve found to discourage it is to keep our bedroom shut (then she only yowls outside the door), but our cat is soooo cute, we don't have the heart to deprive her of our company. My guess is that your cat just wants your company

You might consider getting another cat for your kitty to play with. It will diminish her need to wake you up, or attack your feet when you move.

Uh, Sir Gene.

What do you do when the second cat doesn't like the first cat and wants the company of a third cat?
