Exhaust Advice

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I'm thinking of getting a different slip-on exhaust for my F4S and would like to hear from anyone familiar with the differences. I’m not nearly as interested in performance improvement as I am with sound characteristics (i.e. not so much maximum loudness as tone.) Yes, I’m THAT shallow. Price isn’t a big factor since the purchase doesn't need to be immediate and I can always hold off buying them until I've saved up a bit more. Generally speaking, it just bugs me a bit when my wife says the garage door makes more noise than the MV. Perhaps she just trying to get my goat. Still, I’d really prefer her to say it sounds like an F1 - or something like that, anyway. In contrast, there’s a guy down the street with an R1 and totally open pipes. I'll admit it sounds fantastic at the track but even I find it a bit of an over-kill on the street. I’d like to stay away from that extreem if I can. So, I’m looking for something in-between. Anyone care to give me some subjective opinions and feedback – both positive and negative - on the sound of various cans(including the RG3 found on the Senna)? Thanks in advance.

i'm happy with the titanium blue flame pipes and supplied chip. sound awesome and 'seat of pants' dyno sees bit more midrange. well priced as well. they had some initial problems with fit, quality and so on but replaced mine with no hassles and new set slipped on a treat and have been v reliable.

I have the RG3 system and chip on my 2000 F4 and am very happy with it. Looks totally stock, but sounds much much better. Much stronger pull too, especially in low-mid range. I think you'll be very happy with this setup.

I have a Ti Ferracci system and like it very much. Still, I would prefer the Ti silencers to snarl a little louder. Had CF Termis on my 996 and found they to have low exhaust notes, however, twins are so different from the inline.

Cheers!!!

If price is not a question then look into a Motocorse slip-ons/Full system.

Motocorse Titanium pipes duplicate the beautiful carved out design of the original pipes, but not only are they less restrictive, but they also sound fantastic. Remember these are the same pipes that are sold through MV Agusta Special Parts.

I have the RG3 exhuast on my Senna and it made a difference, not huge, but does sound better. Has that Ferrari scream at about 7,000 rpm and higher. With the eprom and RG3, the performance is better too.

Any idea of the difference in sound and performance between the MV special parts RG3 and the Titanium pipes, the titanium look much better. Does anyone know which is louder? Because they are the ones I want..

My husband, Tony, has put the titanium exhaust on his MV Special Parts bike, and just loves the sound. Says it sounds just like a Ferrari. This is an awesome bike. # 24/50 made, and we live in Michigan. Wondering exactly how many of these Special Parts Bikes are in the United States. We purchased this bike last August. It is a 2002. He is thinking of selling it. Know anyone looking for one? He has added quite a few things on it.
