What is this??greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread |
This makes it sound like this is what Catholics believe??I am so confused. Misleading, or is there any truth? Just a schism group? What is up with this???? I am so confused. Does this seem to be heretical, or is it just me?

Hello Prose. You are correct, this is a schismatic group. They even named their own (fake) pope. :-)I agree with you the website is quite misleading and designed to be so.
God bless you,

They are called sedevacantists. They believe that the Chair of Peter is vacant, and they have taken it upon themselves to remedy the perceived problem. There is a real sedavacante, but it refers to that short time after the death of one pope and the election of another, where there really is a temporary vacancy of the Chair of Peter.
These people at truecatholic.org are outside the Church; pray that they come back into it.

Just plain sedevacantists. But I got curious: who is the "pope" they elected? The guy is not even a bishop!

Indeed there are a lot of loose cannons out there, but there is a degree of truth in some of the statements. Of course this man is not a pope, however the pope that we do have, is not a very good pope.Pray for his soul and our own. We all need it now that this rotten war has started.

Ed - Your comment re: Pope Jean Paul irks me. Should you have time there is a very fine book titled " In The Shoes Of The Fisherman " written I believe in the 60's.My point being is the parallels with the novel's pope and our current Pope is staggering. You and others may not agree with his methods but I feel he the finest gift to the church in many years.

Prose please disregard the comment from Ed "however the pope that we do have, is not a very good pope". Ed is a seriously unbalanced chap, please pray for his soul.

It is said that the worste Pope we ever had was hand-picked by Jesus: our first pope, St. Peter. (Thrice denying Jesus, losing Faith while walking across the water, etc...)
