Thought for Eucharistic Adoration

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Here's a thought for the next time you're kneeling or sitting in front of the Blessed Sacrament...

Be Silent.

Be still.

Alone, empty,

before your God.

Say Nothing.

Ask Nothing.

Be Silent.

Let your God look upon you.

That is all.

He Knows.

He understands.

He loves you with an enormous love.

He only wants to look upon you

with His love.

Quiet.

Be still.

Let your God love you.

God bless

LITANY OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT

Lord, have mercy upon us, Christ have mercy on us.

Christ hear us. Christ, graciously hear us.

God the Father, Have mercy on us.

God the Son, Have mercy on us.

God the Holy Ghost, Have mercy on us.

Holy Trinity, One God. Have mercy on us.

Blessed Jesus, God and Man Have mercy on us.

Jesus, Whom the Heavens cannot contain, yet art really present on our Altars, Have mercy on us.

Jesus, adored by the Heavenly Hosts, yet accepting our praises, Have mercy on us. Jesus, veiling Thy Majesty, that we may draw nigh to Thee, Have mercy on us.

Jesus, Bread of Life, Whom whoso eateth lives forever, Have mercy on us.

Jesus, Good Shepherd, laying down Thy Life for Thy sheep, Have mercy on us.

Jesus, giving us Thine own Flesh and Blood, under the forms of bread and wine, Have mercy on us.

Jesus, becoming one with us in this Holy Sacrament, Have mercy on us.

Jesus, Thyself both Priest and Sacrifice, Have mercy on us.

Have mercy, O Lord, and pardon our sins.

Have mercy, O Lord, and renew our souls.

From measuring Thy Omnipotence by our weak understanding, Good Lord, deliver us.

From doubts, distractions, and irreverence, Good Lord, deliver us.

From unworthy and unfruitful receiving, Good Lord, deliver us.

From coldness, hardness of heart, and ingratitude, Good Lord, deliver us.

By Thy Blessed Body, really present in the Holy Communion, Good Lord, deliver us.

By Thy Precious BLood, really present in the Cup of BLessing, Good Lord, deliver us.

We sinners beseech Thee to hear us, that we may believe all Thy Truths revealed to us, Hear us, Lord.

That we may acknowledge our absolute subjection to Thy Will, Hear us, Lord.

That we may thankfully adore Thy Goodness, Hear us, Lord.

That we may gratefully respond to Thy gracious invitations, Hear us, Lord.

That we may approach this ineffable Mystery in perfect charity with all the world, Hear us, Lord.

That receiving Thy most Sacred Body and Blood, our souls may dissolve in reverence and love, Hear us, Lord.

That returning from this Great Sacrament, our hearts may continue recollected in Thee, Hear us, Lord.

That we may be healed of all infirmities, and strengthened against all relapses, Hear us, Lord.

That we now adore Thee veiled in Mystery, we may hereafter see Thee face to face, Hear us, Lord.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord.

O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament hast left us a memorial of Thy Passion; grant us, we beseech thee, so to venerate the Sacred Mysteries of thy Body and Blood, that we may ever perceive within ourselves the fruit of thy redemption, who livest and reignest with the Father, in the Unity of the Holy Ghost, God for ever and ever. Amen.

O SALUTARIS O salutaris Hostia!
Quae caeli pandis ostium:
Bella premunt hostilia,
Da robur, fer auxilium.

Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna gloria,
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria.
Amen.

O saving Victim o-p'ning wide
The gate of heaven to man below!
Our foes press on from ev'ry side; Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.

To Thy great Name be endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, One in Three;
Oh, grant us endless length of days
In our true native land with Thee.
Amen.

TANTUM ERGO Tantum ergo Sacramentum
Veneremur cernui:
Et antiquum documentum
Novo cedat ritui:
Praestet fides supplementum
Sensuum defectui.

Genitori, Genitoque
Laus et iubilatio,
Salus, honor, virtus quoque
Sit et benedictio:
Procedenti ab utroque
Compar sit laudatio.
Amen.

Down in adoration falling,
Lo! the sacred Host we hail,
Lo! oe'r ancient forms departing
Newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith for all defects supplying,
Where the feeble senses fail.

To the everlasting Father,
And the Son Who reigns on high
Holy Ghost from Both proceeding
Forth from Each eternally,
Be salvation, honor blessing,
Might and endless majesty.
Amen.
