run time error 6 overflowgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Anders Petersson's Freeware Forum : One Thread |
I tried NHB 2 and 2.5 on a test directory on Win XP. Source and destination top level directories on D: hard disk. Setup seems ok but always get err 6 overflow on attempt to execute.Sorry if I have omited vital clues but not sure what you need.
I wanted to use this to copy new and amended files to a DVD+RW disk for backup.
Does NHB compare source and destination or just remember file backup dates? I would prefer to have a Grandfater parent child set of disks backing up in rotation each time I back up, is that possible?

Hard to say, about the 6 error. Try the latest beta (6).
This I don't understand: "I would prefer to have a Grandfater parent child set of disks backing up in rotation each time I back up". Please clearify.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. The Grandfater parent child method is simply a 3 stage rotation of backups and would be something like this example:Week 1 backup to onto DVD+rw "A" any new or changes since last backup to "A" Week 2 backup to onto DVD+rw "B" any new or changes since last backup to "B" Week 3 backup to onto DVD+rw "C" any new or changes since last backup to "C" Week 4 backup to onto DVD+rw "A" any new or changes since last backup to "A" Week 5 " "B" Etc etc.
This means you alwauys have 3 generations of backup and one could be kept off site for extra security.
