No, it doesn't. I've been using it for ages and I have yet to experience any troubles.

You're just making him paranoid! Don't be so mean. mIRC is just a chat program. It's internet relay chat, and the only way you can get a virus is if you accept and run a file from another user.In order to prevent this, goto File-Options and then goto DCC- Folders. Here you have the option to ignore all files except those with certain extensions (ie, safe files, like *.jpg, *.bmp), or ignore files with extensions that are liable to be virussed (such as *.exe, *.bat)
Other than that, mIRC is no different from Yahoo chat (which basically uses a similar client), except the servers are generally faster, and file sharing is easier.

Mirc is shit kid unless your good with comps and can smell a hacker dont use this. but if u r smart and now your way around this kind of stuff go ahead and even if u know your way around dont use it unless u have firewall and a good antivirus program cuase Mirc is trogan paradise.

I'm not that oblivious to hackers. And I have a good firewall and antivirus stuff, but I mean, if you're likely to get a virus after 1 download, it's probably not worth having. Anime or not. The files are no good with a crashed computer... in my opinion

TJ - if you do end up using mirc, remember NEVER to do the things in private messages, such as "You have been infected with a virus. Go here" or "copy and paste this to get rid of spam". And as long as you don't accept weird files, all's fine.

For the guy that said you have to be "good with computers and smell a hacker" to use mirc, that is ridiculous. mIRC is a simple client like any other which you use to connect to a server and chat with others. Same as any other chatting deal like Yahoo. The only difference on an irc network would be your ip address being displayed to others and that is easily masked by getting a user id on cservice's website (if you use undernet) which will then only show username.undernet.org as the address. Even if people do get your ip address, that doesn't mean they can now "hack you" and take complete control of your computer. That is another ridiculous, yet wide- spread misconception. If it was that easy, all public servers and websites would be getting "hacked" every day since afterall, you have their address. I've used IRC for many years with my ip address displayed to all and I never had a problem.

Alright, that's fuckin lame !!! MIRC contain 0 viruses, the users has viruses and share it with people ( sometimes without even knowing that) Do not accept a file from someone you don't trust, that's on irc after all. Download what you have to, talk with people then after that leave the channel and quit irc. MIRC IS A SHAREWARE NOT A SPYWAREon this, I thank you.
