Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie to MIRC and I really need specific directions on how to download files off other people. I mean, I understand basic commands like @find and !list but I don't know what to do after I type in the trigger... and I don't know how to look into the directory in other people's hard-drives... (I want to be a anime leecher, I admit it). So, is anyone willing to go though the entire thing slowly with me?

Or you can tell me a fast download server, (I have both Kazaa and WinMX.) But I want something faster. If you will help, please email me!

First, when you get into someone's server, you can always type "help" (without the quotes) to get the list of commands to use because there are some that vary from Fserv to Fserv.

Browsing and Downloading:

The common ones that you'll need are generally the same in every Fserv. Once you're in the Fserv, type "dir". This will list all the folders/files the Fserver chooses to show. If you want to go into a folder, type "cd EXACT FOLDER NAME HERE". Then you type "dir" again to list all the subfolders/files in there. To move up a folder (go back, the higher folder, opposite word for subfolder, you get the point), you type "cd .." and that does the trick. When you want go download a file, type "get EXACT FILE NAME HERE INCLUDING EXTENSION". (BTW, the easiest and fastest way is copying/pasting the foldername or filename).

Checking Your Place in Line (Queue) and the Current Sends:

Generally, you can type "queues" to show who's in line where and where you're at in it. Sometimes it's a different command, so you'll have to type "help" to see what it is. If you decide that you don't want the file anymore (and you're still in queue for it), you type "clr_queues" (again, it might be something different) to remove your queued file from the list. You can check the stuff that the Fserver is sending at the moment by typing "sends". It will show the speed and how much longer and stuff.

I think that's pretty much covers it. Type "exit" to quit the session. Or it will end automatically after X seconds of idleness.

Seems like he covered pretty much everything. However if you really get stuck, try and find a sympathetic person in the main channel to help. You'll be surprised how many people are willing to help polite newbies, especially on the smaller channels.
