That's a tuffie. Yusuke is very powerful with the spirit wave and the spirit gun. Then Hiei has his dragon of the darkness flame and his jagan which comes in useful. If they were to fight each other, I think it would be very close. In short, I think they're about equal in strength. Hiei is faster but has that stopped Yusuke from kicking his butt?(Refer to the episode "The Three Eyes of Hiei", Epis. 8 I think.)

OK, maybe some ***SPOILERS*** for some. Don't read if you haven't seen past the first tournament. You have been warned.

OK, Yusuke and Hiei might be equal in this first tournament, but by the time Yusuke gets killed a second time by a former detective, Sensui, then is revived, and then fights in the makai tournament, he is definitely stronger than Hiei.

Oh, and the blood running through Yusuke's veins is that of an S class demon Raizen. His father is no weakling. He infact is one of the strongest demons there could possibly be. So Yusuke eventually reaches class S. It is well known that Hiei is only a class A and some argue not. But it can be seen at the makai tournament that he is only a class A.

Even Yusuke's father could beat Hiei.

I'de have to say yuske because there are not many who can stand up to yuske's full demon form and heie isnt one of them. in yuskes demon form he is both faster stronger and can put out more spirit energy than heie. If you dont believe me than think about how hard of a time heie had with yuske when he had'nt even mastered the spirit wave, i mean sure they've both improved alot since then, but Yuske and Heie fought in the second season and heie and Yuske were even and at a stale mate so emagine if yuske had of transformed into his demon form then ... Heie would have been on the ground begging for death, because full demon Yuske is a ruthless bloodthirsty killing machine, he doesnt stop until his opponent is in pieces, and for those who dont believe me then watch the episode where yuske defeats Sensui

I hate to spoil everything, but Yusuke isn't Human. So being demon doesn't automatically make Hiei stronger. If you ask me, they're about even. Though I'd love to believe Hiei was the strongest one there, he's even said Kurama would be a good match for him, which makes me think that Hiei isn't even the second strongest sometimes. And don't get me wrong, Hiei is my favorite character, but he just might not be strongest. Hiei, Yusuke, and Kurama are all about the same at the end of the series, but as of now (Kurama vs Karasu) I'd say Hiei is probably strongest.
