Gas light not workinggreenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread |
I have an 02 MV senna. When you turn the ignition on the dash goes through its normal sequence. During that sequence the gas light does light, although when bike runs low on gas the light never turns on. Is there a float in the tank that is possibly stuck? What needs to be done to solve the problem? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the ctual light bulb in the dash is the culprit. The simple fact that it doesnt light up when the bike does it's self-check should tell you that. Replace the bulb and let me know what happens!

The bulb does light during the self check.

You know what, I think my Senna is doing the same thing. I got like 140+ miles out of a tank of gas and the light never came on. I looked in the tank when I filled up, had some gas in there, but I don't know the level that should trip the light. It has worked in the past, I will keep a better eye on it.

Mine has had two low fuel sensors, the original failed leaving me stranded, the second had an elec box about the size of a matchbox in it`s lead that the dealer maniged to get stuck between the tank and alternator and that failed, the third one i installed myself-i think it`s a capacitance probe, and the large plate on the bottom of the tank needs to be removed to fit it

Mine did light up once on my 2000 f4 but was too late had to rock the bike from side to side to get me to the petrol station, lucky it was only 50 yards from where I ran out. Anyway now I always have the trip 1 displaying, zero it every time I fill up and refill when I get between 80-100 miles showing to be on the safe side.Dan.

I had the same problem with my gaslight too and I got a new gauge on warranty which I changed myself because I have a long way to an authorized dealer. It solved the problem.I think you should have the gauge in the tank changed.
