What are ya'll doin to prepare for the comin de-flation? Seems our money is fix'n to be worthless or close to it. Politicans don't know how to live within a budget unless they can expand the limits a mite. Gotta give billions away to our enemys too. That really helps the American worker when his taxes are just frittered away.

I didn't put out a garden this year but will start buyin extra canned grub shortly. Not too much I can do about fresh meat as deep freezers require electrical power to run'm. We may end up losin grid power this winter too. Talk of shortages in Natural Gas, oil and gasoline/diesel. When that happens they won't be able to move coal for the coal fired powerplants. Our rates have raised a bunch already this summer and then the power adjustment cost is tacked on too. My latest bill I just paid two days ago---normally about $35 to $40 was $70!! No a/c on it but the next one will be and it's fix'n to be about 3 times as much.

We are in the last of the last days before Jesus Christ comes for His Church. Things will wax worse and worse until then--and then for another 7 years of the Tribulation. If you're not ready to meet Jesus Christ--time is runnin out. old hoot. Matt.24:44

Hey Hoot, have you thought about canning meat for your storage? I do that besides freezing right now more for winter convenience but it is a great way to have your meat without worrying about electic outages. If you know how to can with a pressure canner you can just do a batch every few days as you feel like it. Each batch must be processed for 90 minutes for 7 quarts or 14 pints. It's a bit of work now but at least you won't have to worry about losing your foods when the 'big one' hits.

Our electric rates are not the highest around but my bills normally ran $85 for winter, spring & late fall & $140 summer due to the AC running. I'm afraid to see what this next one will be since they raised our rates. Coming from the north, I can't breathe without AC down here. So it's not a luxury and I do turn it off when the temps are under 85 but that humidity is a killer. Propane rates have skyrocketed everywhere. We are lucky and have a supplier that 'locks in' a price for the season if you stay on the keep filled program, so this winter the highest it will be is $1.149 but for those who don't sign up it will fluctuate and according to the saleperson the first fill will be charged at $1.779!! Yikes we have a 500 gal tank so it actually holds 400-I wouldn't want to see that fill-up bill 2 or 3 times this winter=$1.149 is bad enough. All signs from nature point to a worse than normal winter-not a good time to have really high utility rates is it?

Jay, what is a lost mortgage? I have owned plenty of houses over the years but I've never heard that term ? Is it like a foreclosure or tax lein? Just wondering.....

Well we've been prepping all along so we just continue to add to our stores. We do use and rotate. I've seen nothing over the last several years to make me think that it's a mistake to be as prepared (for whatever) as possible. Indeed, I think it's more important that ever. We just went today and bought 2 1/2 more bales of sugar because it's on sale at a really good price. That's one thing about keeping a good stock on stuff - we never have to pay full price for things. We just stock up on them when they're on sale.

We are also continually learning more skills and how to do for ourselves. Of course, ultimately we are God-sufficient, not self- sufficient. I do believe that HE is the one who has led us into preparedness.

Hey, Hoot, You're a hoot! Your knowledge of economics is pretty grim, though.

If we do, indeed, enter a period of deflation, your money will be worth more, not less. If you seriously believe that we're entering such a deflationary period (and it's certainly possible, but it sure won't be caused by some holy rolly bullshit about the end days), the best thing you can do is sell anything you have that you can do without, and avoid buying anything at all that you can possibly do without. The price of most things in a depression (deflationary period) will go down. In fact, just you and your buds saving your money, and not buying stuff, will help contribute to a self fulfilling prophecy, as more and more people stop buying things, and more and more people lose their jobs that depend on consumerism.

Depression is a very bad thing. Only the bankers, and others with lots of foreknowledge, get rich at the people's expense. Look at the last one: the banks ended up owning lots of family farms after the dust settled.

All you folks who are stocking up, if you are doing so in preparation of a period of deflation, are going about it ass-backwards, for chrissakes!

Speaking of which, thanks for the religious advice. I sure need it; my friend did meett Jesus (I have no interest in meeting a mummy, myself). My friend says she met him t hrough an internet dating service, and he saves at first national bank of Waco, Texas. I didn't get to hear about her date, but she says He was a lot of fun.

JOJ! Thanks for you opinion but I believe I'll just continue to trust in Jesus Christ. I've tried livin without Him and didn't really care too much for it. I'm not fix'n to try to convert you to anything, change your mind about the economy or the hard times ahead. I'll not stock up anymore than I always do for wintertime.
