I know that most of you out there much prefer to have your anime in subtitles, as to have the original content and language originally dubbed in Japanese. But tell me, isnt it so much easier just to sit back and listen to it english (that is unless you understand Japanese) than to have to read the little words and miss out on the entire action of a scene. Cuz i hate to have to rewind and try to find where i missed off. I for one wish that there is alot more english dubbed episodes out there of any anime. Dont take offense! Only just my true opinion, and give me some responses.

How could anyone NOT listen to the those wonderful japanese voice actors? Seiyuus are just amazing. They put their entire heart and soul into what they do; their talents contribute so much to the entire effect that an anime has on a person. They make it 'real' and as dumb as that sounds, when watching something that is animated, you *know* it isn't real the whole time, but those seiyuu add that to anime. I couldn't imagine sitting through all those choppy, half assed attempts american voice...things try and put out. Granted, some are pretty good, I will admit this, but I still prefer, always, the japanese voices to any american ones. Why would you ever want to dub over those amazing individuals' talented work? They take their jobs so seriously, putting any old american voice actor, who just goes into a sound recording booth and blurts out some lines like it's any other day of work, to shame. Besides, japanese is a beautiful language, and if you watch enough anime, you can read those subtitles quite fast after a while and don't miss a thing.

Dubbed anime is usually really corny. Plus they cut a lot of scenes. I used to watch cardcaptor sakura on WB 22 and thought they did a pretty good job on it. Then I bought the dvd boxset and watched it. It was much better than dubbed. Not only that but they cut like 15 episodes. I'm estimating. Look at Sailor Moon S. Usagi's(Serena's) english voice could shatter glass. Look at the japanese they kept the same voice actress(Mitsuishi Kotono) the whole series.(Other than the ones where Chibi Usa did the voice because Mitsuishi Kotono was sick or something. I think I much prefer sub over dub.

I do like the original (jap.) it's jest so much more interestin and reading the sub. arnt so bad when you get use to it. + you get to learn sum new words :P look at me i jest started to watch the japanese version (sp) and i know 10 new words! :P besides the japanese is like 20 times better then the english! i jest got to convince my friend bout' that :)

I personally prefer subbed. I don't miss out on the scence just because I am reading the subtitles. In fact it makes you a faster reader. All I have to do is glance at the sentence and it's read and then I can enjoy the sence.

I often find that the Japanese voice actors do a much better job as well. It's something that you often just don't realize unless you've watched both the dub and the sub of a series. ^_^

Poor Jeff, no one out there seems to like dubbed. Well, I will tell you that I used to be like you. I didn't want to watch an anime unless it was dubbed in English. Then something, wonderful in my opinion, happened to me. I got hooked watching Inuyasha on CN. Well, they weren't moving along fast enough for my tastes so I got my hands on a whole bunch of episodes. They were subtitled not dubbed but I figured Inuyasha would be worth reading. I sat down and watched them all. I got used to reading what the people were saying and eventually I didn't even realize I was reading anymore. In fact it became so natural that I could just read the sentence and keep up with the action all at once. Then I was just sitting around one night and Inuyasha happened to be on CN. I decided I would watch just because I hadn't watched a dubbed episode of it in a while. It was terrible. I couldn't believe I liked it in the first place. The voice actors put vitually no effort whatsoever into acting. It was like they were just reading off their lines. I just couldn't watch most dubbed anime after that. It just wasn't as good as the subtitled episodes. In the end, I just have to say that subtitled anime is so much better for so many reasons. It's something you can't understand until you compare the two for yourself, and I don't mean watch one or two subtitled anime episodes. Force yourself, yes at first you have to force, to watch as many subtitled epsodes as you do dubbed. Then go back and watch the dub. I think you will become disappointed with dubbing if you do. ^_^

Well, I will admit to liking Hellsing dubs more than the subs... only cuz I find Alucard's voice rather... sexy. *grins* Other than that, I do like the Japanese voice actors more, and I _love_ learning Japanese, myself (or trying to, at least)!

My advice? NEVER watch Excel Saga in subtitles if 1) you cannot read quickly, and 2) you do not like to miss screen action... . ;o)

I prefer subs cause u can learn japanese plus I am a good reader I read fast and understand so I don`t rewind and I like japanese voices plus they are more talented and thats what the creator wanted the voice to be in the first place I like subbed better

yes! i'll definitely go for subs!! it needs some getting used to at first. b4 i chose subs, i didn't think i'll like reading the words n thus having to miss the animation but once i got used to it, i didn't even seem to spend more than 1 sec on every lines. u'll be able to read real fast, thanks to those fansubbers who made the subtitles easy to read. the ONLY time i had problems with subtitles is KARE KANO, where the jap voice actor talks with a speed of machine-gun and the subtitles just pass with incredible speed....

lol nobody, same here. Kare Kano has been the only anime that I've had to pause and/or rewind. And Jeff, there isn't a "need" for subtitles. It's just a popular *want* or preference. Well, each to his/her own. I just hope that people who post their opinions take both sides into equal consideration.
