I'm getting back into piano teaching and would like to know the average rate for lessons. I have lived in the area for 2.5 years so people know me fairly well. I have a M.M. in piano performance, with an emphasis in piano pedagogy. I also freelance for ballet companies and weddings. Thanks!

Rates vary incredibly throughout the U.S. You will need to check around your town to find what other teachers with various credentials charge for private music lessons, ask a local music store or piano technician if they track going rates, and also compare private lessons to what it costs for group lessons such as ballet or martial arts, just to find out what people are willing to pay per month--of course private instruction will cost more than group classes. Join your local music teachers' association for support and advice.
