what to charge for college audition accompanimentgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Everything About Teaching and Learning the Piano : One Thread |
Lately I've been doing a fair amount of accompanying for local middle and high school students for festivals and such and have always arranged reimbursement through the band directors or music teachers. It's usually been a lump sum for accompanying for a group of students. I've been asked by one of those students who is getting ready for their college auditions if I'd be willing to record the Saint-Saens Sonata for Clarinet & Piano with her. She told me that she has performed single movements of the sonata with other accompanists before and has needed as many as 5 rehearsals with them. The work is new for me except for the first movement, so I will have to learn it. How does one go about deciding what to charge for doing this? Thanks in advance for your advice!
