Hey I just bought a sony dvd -+ dvdr. My question is when I go to burn anime ( using programs Nero v6 and sonic my dvd) The subtitles dont all fit on the screen. Could someone please help me out on this It is getting quite exspensive. I meen when I hook my computer up to my tv everything wrks fine and when i play the dvds i just burned on my computer they work fine its just when on i play them on my standalone dvd player this happens( Anime trying to burn Hajime no Ippo and Naruto) If anyone can help I would greatley appreciate it Thanks

I have that same problem when I make VCDs. The only reason it does it is becuase the anime that we download and watch on our PCs isn't exactly the same size as our TV screen, so a little always gets cut off the top and the bottom of the picture. The main problem is that when the fansubbers sub the shows they place the subtitles very low on the screen. So whenever you try to put it in a format so you can watch it on your TV, the subtitles are cut off. I've made a lot of anime episodes into VCDs, and I don't have problems with the subs being cut off if the subbers place the subtitles slightly higher on the image. However I have noticed that if your TV screen is more of a square shape, you'll be able to see the subtitles.

For instance, the subtitles get cut off when I try to watch on my two more rectangular shaped TVs, but if I watch it on my parent's newer square shaped TV I can always see the subtitles.

Sorry it's not really much help, but I haven't found any real solutions to the problem.

Well, TMPEGnc will let you deal with aspect ratio, but the only thing is that you can't get the version that will let you encode for DVDs free. You can try the program and see if you like it at www.tmpegnc.com.

yo, u said u were trying to burn Naruto... my advice is get the ones fan-subbed by Toriyama's world (either go to the site and click the link, or go directly to http://a.scarywater.net/naruto/). The letters are quite large and yellow, allowing them to be easily read, and they are quite up, and so, when i make it into a VCD, they don;t get cut off. Hope that helps rAlF

Well i did the exact same thing and i tried nero and some others and my anime subtitles always get cut off. I tried Naruto from [TW] but the subs still get cut off. anyone know how to keep the subs visible

Ah i found the solution... Here is what i did... I used TMPGEnc Plus and my settings were 720 x 480 MPEG2, here is where the important part is or else the subtiles wont show correctly on the Advance tab on the source output ratio it should be at 4:3 and on Video arrange method it should be at |Center (keep aspect ratio)|

Out of curiosity, how do you burn anime into a DVD-+R to be able to play on a stand alone DVD player? Plus if it is a .ogg file, what do I use to convert it? I would really appreciate the help if anyone could find an answer.
