I don't know about the animes but I've read both Inuyasha and Ranma in manga form. Is it just me or do some of the characters seem similar? Inuyasha and Ranma to me have very similar personality traits, same with Akane/Kagome. Same with the love/hate relationship that both Ranma/Akane and Inuyasha/Kagome have. I forgot his name, but the monk who sucks up demons through the hole on his palm is a very very cool character. He's to me, the best character that Rumiko Takahashi has created.

Inuyasha sucks if you watch it dubbed.

However, I find the subbed version very compelling. If you require a complicated main plot, you shouldn't be watching it. It's simple, but the mood and art is what lures me. Also how different the characters are. Rumiko tends to be a big fan of romance, so don't watch (I think it's her?) stuff if you don't want to see it.

Ranma's cute, but I find that Inuyasha with all it's different aspects is better.

I was thinking about d/ling fansubs of IY until I saw the two movies. It is so cliqued, "How could a half-demon and a mortal be this strong???!!!" is the last word said by the dying villains of both movies, the ranma-esque relationship between inu yasha and kagome doesn't really appeal to me either. If the tv series is similar to the movie then I made the right choice of not pursuing the series.

I only ever used to watch Dragonball Z long ago in Hong Kong and only recently started wathing InuYasha. My friend showed me 5 episodes and I was totally hooked after that. I'm not sinister but my favourite episode is the one when all those demon hunters get killed and the group are left with Sango. Ranma is funny, but the comedy is overused after season 3. The only reason I even finished season 4 was because of principal kuno, I might go back and try to enjoy the last three seasons, but that will be awhile.
