GOD IS SO GOOD! I am back home in Oregon, having flown out to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for my tubal reversal surgery on Monday, October 20, 2003...sore, tired, but so at peace and full of quiet joy. I took my last pain pill today so am still a little fuzzy mentally. I don't think it has really "hit" me yet about being restored and open to life (yet) because I am in "recovery" mode and sleeping a lot!

My husband & I had a nice weekend prior, enjoyed a few good restaurants and time alone together, got some gifts for our boys (ages 15, 12, 9). My surgery was Monday morning, I had some time prior to entering the OR room for prayer & Scripture. Mostly, I was praying through Romans 12:2 (become a living sacrifice for God in your daily life) and 1 Peter 3:14 (suffering for doing good)...in my paperback Bible, the words "So don't be afraid and don't worry" jumped out at me from the Lord right before going into the OR! I kissed my husband goodbye with a big THANK YOU! then headed in on the arm of the Catholic nurse I had been emailing with...overcome with gratitude and joy, I started crying the in the hallway. She gave me a big hug, all I could say is GOD IS SO GOOD! The rest is a blur (I think my meds were kicking in!) because I remember climbing up on the operating table, and thinking "Oh, what a coincidence" that my arms were spread out on each side (like a cross) then I was out.

A friend sent me a Mass card prior to surgery, I got to thinking that I must have had over 30 people (or more?) praying for me...between friends, bulletin boards, our bishop & diocese staff, my kids, etc. I am so overwhelmed by the love & support of the Body of Christ, and by the fact that we can help each other both here on earth & when we are in heaven, too. Thank you for your prayers and kind thoughts...it is an amazing thought to me that our God is so kind & merciful & forgiving. And when we set our minds to walk in His ways, He makes the path clear ahead of us.

Please let people know of the wonders of the Catholic Church's historical teachings on marriage and sex, and the beauty of living life how God planned it. I recommend sharing books by Christopher West (Good News about Sex & Marriage) and Kimberly Hahn (Life Giving Love), plus anything from the group One More Soul.

I can't wait to go to heaven and see all the ramifications of what this very personal decision made, in terms of reparation & helping others in the Body of Christ. God's grace is an amazing gift, offered freely and lavishly. I rejoice in His calling me, and leading me, and discipling me in my sin, in order to arrive at this point of repairing the damage I did to my body, and beginning to walk in His ways for marriage and sexuality. I am in awe of our awesome God.

Hi Cindy,

I read your post op post and I found it a bit ironic. My wife and I will be moving to Oregon later this year and we plan on having a reversal as well. We are considering the UNC-CH site as well. There is a physician in San Fran too but if we have to fly anyway I thought the UNC-CH site might be better.
