Some good news! No longer will I be Queen of the Night - I can become the FRLian Princess Royal again!! I have a new *day* job!!!!! I'm leaving the sleep disorders lab and will be doing Respiratory Home care again. Ahhh for normal hours and a regular routine. We'll see how long it lasts :-)

Tomorrow night there's supposed to be a full lunar eclipse (at least here in NJ). I guess that down where Carol is it will be a full down under eclipse, or perhaps an upside over eclipse, or maybe a partially full inside out eclipse.

Well, I'm over half way through my first week at the new job. I think I made a better Queen of the Night than Princess of the day...

I had a good first day at work - I felt a little overwhelmed by all the information I needed to absorb, and a bit shaky from lack of food (my new boss doesn't stop for coffee or lunch much), but I thought it would soon get better.

The next day, we had a snow storm. The pace was a bit slower, but more tense, since we drove about 30 miles out to visit a new patient on a farm in the middle of no where (except a snow storm :-) Then we drove about 30 more miles on country roads to visit another patient... we made it, but we passed about 20 vehicles of various sorts that hadn't and were sitting in the ditch waiting for the tow trucks to get to them. We passed a few tow trucks too. When we finally got back to the office (1/2 an hour after shift end), there were still two new patients that hadn't been seen. Since one lives not far from me, I said I'd see her on my way home. The office is on the other end of Edmonton from where I live, and it normally takes between 40 minutes and an hour to get there, depending on the traffic. Yesterday, it took me over 2 hours to get back to our area.

Today was a bit better. I didn't get any coffee or lunch time, but I did get home by 7 pm. Things are looking up!

I'm beginning to remember why I left home care - lots of unpaid overtime and driving in terrible conditions. Well, I have a few weeks more to see how things go before they open the new positions at the sleep lab and ask me to come back ;-) If it were today, it'd be a tough choice: night work or more work time than I really want, at a much lower rate of pay. Hmmmmmmmm. I'll keep you posted.
