This have been bugging me for a while, and I just wanted to know is The Martrix storyline japanese made? After watching Animatrix I'm convinced. The storyline is too much like something the japanese would think up. Man vs. machine? Can someone tell me if they know something about this?

Matrix was American, and so are the sequals. Animatrix is mostly Japanese, though. The makers of the Matrix are just very sci-fi-ish, so they appear to be Japanese-like.

Er, not really. At the begginging the Wachoski bros had their own script,plan and such. Then Matrix got popular and a anime prject was proposed. I doubt very much Matrix was inspired in any way by anime.

I saw an article that divulges background info on the matrix. ghost in the shell and akira are the anime listed that established the matrix environment.

if you pay attention you can really see the anime influences. everything is philosophical, like some anime. the action sequences are dramatic and have some crazy stuff happenning in them.

I would think so. I think it is. I just spoke to someone here and she said that the story line is very very similar to Japan movie called the Lane? Lan? something like that. I could not find anything onthat movie. I might have to watch the DVDs again. I have The Matrix, Revisited, Reloaded, Animatrix. I kinda remember the brothers say their story was inpired by some Japan movie.

From something I saw (either on techtv or a website) the Wachowski bros showed their producer this anime, and their idea of a movie, and essentially recreated the anime. I don't know if they literally meant a recreation, or just heavily influenced by it, and i don't know which anime. I have a feeling that the bros are into cyberpunk alot, specifically it has a William Gibson feel to it, with a little of the stuff in Cadigan's work, too

I think Nick's right. On the DVD it said they showed the producer some anime and said "we want to do this except make it real" or it was something like that. So Matrix is heavily influenced by anime.

Although lain is the anime that bears the most resemblance to matrix, it is not possible for the Wachoski brothers to use it as a template since Lain aired around the time the Matrix showed in theaters.
