What do you think of censorship in anime? Specifically on T.V. Please give your opinion and examples if you can. I am using this as a source in a paper for school so... please keep it clean. Thank you for your imput and I'll look foward to your responce.

I hate the cencorship. We want to see the shows as they are. By taking out certain dialogue, you lose some of the original quality. It also makes some animes seem kid-like. Because of this, not many people know the diference between a bad anime and a good anime that has been stripped (by censors)....

Sometimes I think it's called for, depending on what age group it's for... but they go way too far, sometimes i think they are like 'well we cut this scene out so why not just get rid of this one too?' an... 'example' would be cardcaptor sakura.. uggggg.. or sailor moon (not as bad though). An annoying thing that comes from this are people from north america thinking an anime is crap when really it may be far better in the orignal version...

Not much blood for Naruto, not much blood for Kenshin. Sometimes I just want to throw a brick to Tokyo tv, but the anime is aiming a wide age range. Isn't there already too much violence on tv :)

Cencorship is need on a level due to the wide openness that is Japanese television. For example on Poke-Mon ash is normaly makeing fun of Mysties small bust size, or on sailor moon, that series was aimed for young girls; it was also a little on the letchrous side with pre teen girls running around town in skimpy cloths being groped by some "tenticle" like creature. You don't want your eight year old seeing that. Cencorship is only need to make it at playable on tv.

I hate it when people say something is to violent or immoral for TV... This is America, you have the freedom of speech. And if you don't like the program, simply change the f*cking channel... Jesus Christ...

I can agree that yes, you should just change the channel!

And yes some of it should be censored on tv!

Mainly because, you kids will wake up one saturday morning while you're sleeping and turn on the tv and watch it.

Sucks yeah?

But we can't control that.

But I HATE censorship! I do. I LOVED Sailor Moon to death, but I couldn't getpeople to understand that the show sucked balls only because it was in america.

So, it's needed and it's not.

It's a double edged sword if you ask me.

Censorship is a double edge sword like Razii said, but I still believe it's gone too far. In Yu-Gi-Oh, they cut out a scene where a hired goon points a gun at someone. Instead, all you see is him point his index finger at the protagonist (his name slips my mind). That, and they don't show when someone got punched in the face. Tell me, what does that prove? What does that really do? That guns aren't real and punches don't hurt as long as you don't see it? What does it do? Sometimes, the people doing the censoring and giving out the orders for it, should know when to draw the line.
