I believe it would qualify As a "Marian name" along with many others, like Mair, Mara, May, Maye, Mariel, Mariam, Moira, etc.

when picking a confirmation name, one usually picks a Saint one wishes to be more like. lately, mostly in the archdiosees of Los Angeles, you are alowed to pick a name of any person who inspired you and has lead a meaningful, good Catholic life. But, you must explain why you wish to pick that name. So, you may need to ask your parish or the head of your religious education program to find out if it is okay.
