Have any of you guys heard about Maitreya - The prophecised Beast? His name actually adds up to 666

This is why I stay away from end-times prophecy ;) If Jesus didn't know, how should we?

If Maitreya had any clout or political power, then you might need to be concerned. He may be, by definition, an anti-Christ, but he's no threat to the Body of Christ and is certainly not the Beast. He's pretty insignificant and has been for the past 20 years or so since I first heard about him.

Don't loose any sleep over this guy. Christ, who is in you, is greater than he who is in the world.

There are some ancient tests of the Book of Revalation that use the number 616. This is due to the fact that Caesar Nero (the original guy that 666 refers to) in Greek adds up to 666 but in Latin to 616. I am not sure if we should be applying 666 to anyone other than him, but if we do, I would like to know if his number is 616 in Latin. This 666 link above does it in Hebrew and Greek but not Latin.

If you read the Letters of John, the anti-christ is anyone who denies Christ is the Word made flesh or that Jesus is God. Seems to me there are many anti-christs we need to be on guard against whether they have political clout or not. I totally agree with AVC and Dave's last sentence regarding this.

I have heard of the so-called Maitreya. What is most disturbing is that there is a growing number of people and institutions that have committed themselves to "prepare the way" for this and other dark influences in the world today. I don't lose sleep over it because of my faith in the Lord. But it doesn't mean I put my armor down either. The Lord wants us to be "on guard" and alert to the threat that exists. While the other side wants us to make light of or even disregard their intentions.
