MANY GODS, AND SADNESS COMES...greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread |
I , in all my sojpurns online, have noticed this much, about wiccans and neopagans. They seem the least happy lot of all. I speak no ill of them, byt merely a pause for reflection I take here. They are not atheists, they beleive in divine beings, and have many gods, and one may think, as they oft claim, that if one god can make you happy, many can mulyiply this happiness, yet the reverse seems the case. They are directionless, it seems as well, for they claim to follow their hearts to whatever path feels right, their is no single truth, and no right way, do as you feel, and yet in this liberty that they so revel in I see sadness and sorrow.
Their gods become traps, and their rituals prisons for their minds. Their liberated lifestyle leads to dispare, and their lives never advance.
I seek no detail here, only to relect, and I ask a simple thing, to pray for these lost souls.

zarove-- based on my life experiences, id have to agree with you. i think, though, the basis of this is not their polytheistic beliefs but their personalities instead. all the pagans and wiccans ive known were not the "in" crowd. in the school years they were picked on and made fun of, were not active in social events, and/or were the stereotypical "nerds", if you will (thats not how i would label someone, but that is the best way to explain this).their involvement in wiccan and paganism, then, is a deep-rooted rebellion against what is mainstream. it is there that they can find like-minded people, who also harbor pain for years of being bullied, lonely, or even ignored by their parents.
this isnt drivel-- im talking about a number of specific individuals that i know or have known well. in my opinion this is more about nurturing, and is a social issue rather than a religious one. one common trait they all have-- they are curt and rude and respond with biting comments until they feel youve proven yourself worthy of their trust.

Zarove said: They are directionless, it seems as well, for they claim to follow their hearts to whatever path feels right, their is no single truth, and no right way, do as you feel, and yet in this liberty that they so revel in I see sadness and sorrow. We could almost say that same thing about Sola Scriptura, could we not? I mean, wasn't the Protestant Reformation all about becoming "free" from the "oppression" of Rome and it's one single way of interpreting the Bible, so that people could do whatever they think or feel is right (guided by the Holy Spirit and their own interpretation of the Bible, or so they claim)?
The difference here is that at least many Protestants know Jesus and have a direction to turn toward (God). However, I have noticed that instead of being directionless, Protestant groups go all out in many different directions, which seems almost as bad. For example, when a televangelist tells people if only they have more faith (and send in money) they will be healed! What authority is there to stop this heresy? Protestants have nothing to stop it, but only the ability to veer off in another direction.
God bless,

Emily, I know you mean well, however, this is not the thread to discuss any misguvings withthe theory of Sola Scriptura. The two things do not truely ewuate, as even with Sola Scripturta you have SOME basis in SOMETHING, other than this, you must also consider the fac tthat most Protestants who hold sola Scriptura aren't as lost and saddened and imbittered as most NeoPagans, wiccans, ect, seem to be.Indeed, they seem far better balanced.Which was the point of this thread.

Ok, sorry Zarove. I have a bad habit of going off on tangents. Yes, I agree with you that it is very sad, the state of the people who are lost without Christ.God bless,

"SO Zarove, your answer is to follow a cult that makes a "goddess" our of a Creature, and calls her the Queen of Heaven, Earth, and the Universe ? "-JayConsider , for a moment, doing us all a favour, and actually aquaint yourself with whom you are speaking TO before making apriori statements.
I know, Catholisism is the whore of Babylon, they worhsip Mary,ect...but, I am not Catholic. I am a theology student whose studying many different aspects of Christainity. I actually hold membership in the Church of Christ... sorry, but you presumption is itsself unsettling.

I doubt you know my true beleifs at all. You dotn even know your own beleifs well enough to attest them.Noinetheless, here is what I beleive. I am not Catholic, I am learnign of this particular branxh of CHrisyainity for several reasons, oth academic and personal.
I see no reason, withthe teachings of Christ fully in mind, to mock or berate another for any cause. This itsself speaks ill of the person doing it and is less profitable on any occsassion.
I find no reason to badmouth anyone else, to attack their faith, or likewise to be seen as an aggressor who will aleinate people.
Uou arent evven here to teach, rather to attack. You wish to feel mighty by deflectign a few of the great serpent religions arguments, thus you wish to feel censored by them, holdign their deletion of your psost as badges of honour, and you wish to stir trouble so you can say you "Stood for the turth" and mark teir reaction as somehow proof of yourself.
You are thus insecure, not so firm in your own faiht, and in need of csaausign problms for others in order to feel any rest.
By inangerign them, you feel not so bad about your own shallow beleifs.
