Just thought some of you might be interested in Mel Gibson's next film. It is from the book of Maccabees and is about the story surrounding Chanakuh. It sounds like the story would be interesting to translate to film and would obviously have plenty of action. It could also show more clearly that Gibson is trying for ecumenicalism between Jews and Christians and that he is not anti-semetic; hopefully, it will take away these unwarranted attacks on his character.

Sounds like a good idea to dispel the anti-semetic accusations and educate people about Chanakuh and Judaism. However, I don't think a movie from the deuterocanonicals will be well-received by evangelicals. Neither will Jews be likely to be impressed, as it is a work from a Christian perspective rather than their own. However, I would like to see it myself, and it sounds like an interesting topic. Plus, I need to catch up on my knowledge of the contents in the deuterocanonicals, since as a Protestant I never really read them.

God bless,

It is important no to be so pessimistic about next Gibson's film. The PASSION OF THE CHRIST has been seen by multitudes of Separated Brethren and by a good number of Jews, How a movie about the Maccabees would be rejected by such people?

I was just wondering if this next film was going to be in English or not. It doesn't really matter to me, but I was just curious. Let me know if you know.
